** 2024 Opponent Preview : UTEP (Game 1) **

UTEP tries to get 100 plays a game.

The nice thing is that it is way easier to get lined up with a 3 man front.  Plus, NU's 3 man front is huge...so they should be able to devote 8 on the backend.  Look for some picks!

I used to LOVE the way Bo would defend these spread teams, it was a thing of beauty.
Giving thanks to Dejon Gomes and Eric Hagg as well Matt O'Hanlon.  Tremendous players in making the system work beyond the accolades for the DL.

If any of you are bored here is new UTEP head coach Scotty Walden's 2023 Austin Peay team in their FCS playoff game against Chattanooga. Looks like they ran a lot of shotgun on offense, spread out the field a bit.

Also I'm ready for Saturday already. Beat UTEP, go 1-0.

Unpopular opinion: I prefer 11am starts, and this was an 11am start type game, so it's a missed opportunity.

I get too excited and don't want to wait. I want to wake up and the game is about to start.

(Also, we are leaving on our road trip at 2:30).

I agree, especially for the season opener.

Word is their coach isn't afraid to surprise onside kick.
Plot twist: we all turn on our TV's Saturday and it's just Scott Frost in Groucho glasses.

This may be unpopular but IMO I completely agree and I think a lot of other fans do, as well.

I've actually always preferred 11 a.m. games because then it makes me feel like I have more of a Saturday. 2:30/6pm games fill the day with a lot of anxious anticipation.

When I am going to the game, I really prefer a later start time.  Otherwise, I like the 11am games as well.
