If Lyles could ever get a great start he could challenge the world record.
There are 2 things that happen. Lyles takes a while to get to full speed. The other guy gets to full speed and starts decelerating. Can you do both? I need to go back and watch Bolt? I think the start may have to do with pure strength and power. Maintaining speed has to do with how well your anaerobic system is working. There are many who are much smarter than me who can answer this question. I am just a HS throws guy.I watched more than one race where one sprinter is great off the block, but loses a sprinter notorious for "slow" starts and fast finishes.
I don't know the physics of all this, but I wonder if maybe you can't have both. i.e. whatever goes into that initial burst takes away a little something at the end, and vice-versa.
