2024 Transfer Portal Ins/Outs

Wow and who does Nebraska have on their roster right now as a defensive end that is comparable to him?  No one.  He would start if he came here.
Ha ha, if you read about his time in Missouri, he barely played, even with Missouri’s top two edge rushers getting season ending injuries. His own coaches call him a long-term project. I don’t think he starts next year if he comes here. I’m sure you were probably in awe with MJ Sherman and Arik Gilbert as well. Haven’t we realized yet that we are better off finding productive guys in the portal than Projects from other power conferences?

He didn’t start at Missery despite being more athletically gifted than the other options ahead of him. I would say it isn’t a slam dunk he would start right away at NU. Does he has the work ethic to harness his athleticism fully? I can’t even count how many super talented players didn’t have the right mental make up and got passed over by less a gifted players, it happens all of the time. If he comes to NU, it is possible he could start, but to blindly state he would start on day 1 is not a certain bet IMO.

Good thing we have his HS coach on staff to confirm the work ethic.  That should go a long ways to whether we have a shot or not.

Gilbert was a gigantic whiff from Rhule, one of the worst decisions he made since coming here. You know it’s bad when the people in the know say “look for Colorado to be in play since they’re desperate for attention and trying to win a headline,” and then even Colorado doesn’t reach out. I think Rhule just wanted some positive news momentum but that wasn’t even a lottery ticket type of recruit.

This guy is an auto take. If a player hasn’t contributed into their academic junior season, that’s when I’d worry that the lightbulb might never come on. Failing to be a difference maker as a true freshman in the SEC doesn’t worry me. I do think NIL will play a big role in his recruitment again though and we will see what kind of big fish make an attempt.

MJ Sherman was solid. Gilbert was a miss, but he actually had production - it was just several years and 2 schools prior. That was a miss, but I don't really get why people care since there were no roster limits and I don't think he got much NIL.

I agree on prioritizing production over athleticism/recruiting rankings. But I'm fine with taking a few shots, and guys who have a ton of talent and only one year at their previous school are worth kicking the tires on. It's not like he's been a career backup, and you've got a guy on staff who has coached him before.

He is ranked 2nd on the 247 transfer board for defensive ends rn that has to mean something.  He redshirted at Missouri so he isn't going to have the productivity that you want.  Nobody knows why he redshirted but my point is that if he came here who on Nebraska's roster is beating him out for the spot?  I don't think that if Nebraska brought him in that his work ethic is even a question mark bc he has a former teammate and coach on the team that saw him every day.  The only thing that could stop him is if he decides to do something dumb like Gilbert.  Nebraska needs edge rushers badly and to pass on him bc he doesn't have the productivity as a redshirt freshmen is not a smart move imo.

Go after the guy if you want, but to think of him as some amazing first day starter that changes the dynamic of his defense, that’s pretty wishful. He’s a project, just like 90% of the guys that we would get out of high school. I’d rather keep Princewill than get this guy.

Princewill didn't do much this year and had very limit productivity while here yet he is ranked number 1 on 247 transfer board for defensive ends and is probably going to Ole Miss which is very telling for an SEC team to want him.  I never said he is a amazing first day starter but I do think he could help the team improve by starting bc Nebraska doesn't have anybody right now that you could say are starters on the team.
