I think this might be worth keeping an eye on. He joined about 24 hours ago and has posted exclusively in the Trump Tax Plan thread (about 70 times). His user name is also a reference to President Trump being the 45th president, so his intentions in joining seem fairly specific.

He hasn't broken any board rules and this isn't about his aggressive posting style (he's taking as much as he's giving). But, I have a sinking suspicion he might be a sock account. Some of his IP's register similarly to Dewiz.

In regards to knapplc's most recent report - 

I decided to PM 45times about his not-so-subtle troll attempt. He's been giving as much as he's been receiving in that forum and, up until this point, I did not see reason to address the issue. However, he went absent for more than a month and his first decision upon returning was to troll someone for their political opinion. I basically told him this wasn't going to fly.

I will keep everyone posted if this keeps escalating. Although I don't think it's worthy to ban someone just for posting in the politics forum, there are hundreds if not thousands of places to discuss politics and he chose a Husker message board.

For some reason, this seems like a sock account meant only to troll in the politics forum, but the IP searches have come up empty

 
He and I shared some PM's following his warning. He has promised to change his tone.

But, I too am unconvinced he is who he says he is, but I'm running into the same IP issues. He claims he found Huskerboard through Facebook. Personally, I think it's BS:

I joined this board as I stumbled upon the political section while lurking in the FB page. A poster in a thread had stated that there are no Trump supporters as he is indefensible. (or something very near to that) Well as a Trump supporter, I could not help but notice they had all been banned. Mostly for thing the "other side" had done as well. I called out a poster for a personal attack in a previous thread, and I am relatively certain nothing happened to them. The crowd here immediately defended, and mansplained how the attack was not an attack! You will notice, or perhaps not!, that the OP in this thread that I received a warning in, got very little response to his query, and the denizens of this board, chose to attack Trump, and the OP. Should it be your desire that this board be an echo chamber with no opposition to its views, keep it up.

I mainly issued him a warning because he was ignoring my PM. I told him I'd be willing to revoke it if he adjusted his tone because he's been receiving just as much flak as he's been giving. Truthfully, he has a bit of a point: P&R can be an anti-Trump think tank that vilifies Trump supporters, yet many of these anti-Trump people don't see their actions as negative or non-conducive to discussion. Regardless of my personal political opinions, many on this board want to have their cake and eat it, too.

 
I have a sinking suspicion that new member @Vegas is @45timesbetterthanemptysuit. They have similar IP activity, Vegas became a member two days after 45's last visit, and they're both fairly passionate conservative posters.

45 was never banned, however, I did issue him a warning for trolling P&R earlier this year.

It's a red flag to me when somebody joins the board to primarily ruffle feathers in P&R, regardless if they're liberal or conservative.

Good point. If you are a long-term member, I get spending time and posting in P&R. However, this is a Husker fan site. Why would your first or first series of posts be about politics? There are plenty of other sites for that.

I know Redux said something about wanting his friend to join here to talk politics and that was around the same time frame I believe. So I kind of thought it was him. Could easily be wrong though

FWIW Dewiz changed his profile photo to a full upper body photo of Joel, which is interesting since he adamantly defended that there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. I don't know if that changes much, because I think his intent is still there, but still wanted to notate it for discussion.

As for @45timesbetterthanemptysuit, IMO, if we tell people 'no political user names,' we'll have to enforce it fully even if said member only participates in certain portions of the board. It'll probably keep things cleaner, avoid ambiguity and criticisms of inconsistency.

Based on the conversation and change to our PR policy to exclude such content from aspects of user profiles that appear in posts and usernames (e.g., avatars, usernames, signatures), I PM'ed @45timesbetterthanemptysuit the other day to give him/her a chance to discuss this revised policy and the meaning behind that username. It was clear he/she viewed the message but ignored it while continuing to be active on the board. I have subsequently put this user on Mod Review citing violation of our PR policy. I informed him/her that the Mod Review with persist until he/she changes the username and to contact a mod to do so. No content from this member should be approved until a name change occurs.

We will see if he/she chooses to comply.

I adjusted the warning so he can attempt to post content but it is on Mod Review. Interestingly, after I did that, he attempted to post again the PR forum but has not responded to my PM. I contacted him again to say no post or update will be approved until the username is changed.

Sorry, that was my bad. I was already in that thread and I didn't see the warning you gave him before I saw the post to approve it. Once I saw the message I went back to hide it but noticed it had already been taken care of. I won't do it again, I promise.
