AD Shawn Eichorst issues a statement

He claims he sees a bright future in the players eyes. The players claim they have never laid eyes on Eichorst. What gives?
Dude's on lithium..

If he's seeing anything in the player's eyes it's probably :

"Who the f* is that?..."

"How the f* did he get in here?.."

"Is that Jim Rose?..."

"Why you eyeballin' me you ginger punk?.."

"If that a-hole slaps me on the butt I'm gonna lose my cleat in his clenched up a$$..."

how embarassing you even have to say this regarding your coach 9 games into his first season. Don't you think that is a bit alarming????????? Maybe a sign that you made a terrible hire.

No balls.

Would have been much more respectable had he admitted to his mistake and owned up to it.

Bo was right about this much: Eichorst is a total pu&&y and a c&&t.
Is this really necessary? Who cares what Bo thinks. He did himself no favors to retain the head coaching position at Nebraska and hated you (the fan).
Forgive me if I don't give substantial credence to the grumblings of a man whose been fired.
For someone who claims to not care what Bo thinks, you seem to give enough credence to overstate and misappropriate a past grumbling of his
How is that a misappropriation, exactly? He verbally abused and criticized the fans while creating a clear culture of distrust between the team and fan base. There's nothing wrong or dishonest about what I said, but nice try.
To rehash a fired coach's sentiments towards his former boss is petulant and irrelevant at this point, and the fact that one of our own fans is reverberating his disgusting language is ridiculous.
How do you know bhamhusker is one of the fans Bo's comments were directed at? That is misappropriation. I noticed you didn't dispute that you were overstating. Good thing, since someone who thinks the entire fan base was hated and verbally abused probably can't help it.
Your second paragraph has a point, but is impeded by your hypocrisy in the first, and your earlier post.
"F*** you, fans. F*** all of you. F*** 'em."

-Bo Pelini

Clearly, I've "overstated" things. Bhamhusker routinely had afternoon tea and a round of golf with Bo.

The point is Bo Pelini had an irrefutable dislike for this fan base. He made as much clear during the conversation he had with Greg Sharpe in the elevator, by his general demeanor with the media and his team's 'us against the world' mentality that did nobody any favors. I was not directly singling out bhamhusker as someone personally hated by Bo Pelini.

If that's your beef with my post then your point is well taken and we can move on, because the overall purpose of my OP remains = Bo Pelini is gone and he proved, time and again, this was not the right place for him to be a head coach. Rehashing his abusive language against Eichorst is unnecessary, imho.

Stop and think about how stupid that sounds. Why would anyone get upset at the fans who actually supported them?

It was obvious he was talking about ALL the fans who booed at halftime and left early. I can't believe people are still bringing this up.

He did not have a dislike for the fanbase as a whole. He loved the fans who actually supported the team.

(Sorry, if you need this little fantasy to help you sleep at night or something, go ahead and keep believeing it.)

You mean like your speculation about the toxic environment in the football program Kernal? Why can't you just accept that the coaches aren't doing their job? Does your hatred for Bo not allow it?

My two interactions with Pelini, though brief, were actually quite pleasant...

And I was wearing a Nebraska shirt in both instances.

Bo Pelini is gone because of the way he handled his demeanor towards the end, he chose his actions and faced the consequences. However, I also believe Eichorst didn't help calm the waters at all. A simple and sincere "vote of confidence" in the closing weeks of 2013 would have done wonders for the team, recruiting, and Pelini. But Eichorst has this really strict rule about not commenting on coaches during the year.....

If you had read my whole post contextually, you would've understood that I didn't think Bo actually had a hatred for each singular fan.

Because I didn't spell it out in the ABC's of the English language - fine, I will: I don't think Bo Pelini hated every single individual fan in this fan base. I believe, as a whole, he had a dislike for the fans. These are two very different things, and, he likely did have an appreciation for his supporters.

I have a general dislike for Green Bay Packers fans, but, that doesn't mean I despise every single one.

Thanks for clarification. That makes more sense.

He must be getting pressure from the administration or boosters and that's why he released this statement, if it was just pressure from the fans I can't imagine him caring enough to have one of his assistants type a letter.
He's trying to defend his hire (which he has to lest he lose his own job) and keep the fans in the stands. I think that's all this really boils down to.

Ya, I don't get it. Rebuild?? Why the hell are we rebuilding? There was plenty of talent here to win 7-10 games this year
This is the most shocking part of it all. I think most people, myself included, believed this was not a rebuild hire. Many of us felt that Nebraska had hit a ceiling and just needed the last push to get over the edge.

I expected growing pains. I believed a 6-7 win season was possible but that we wouldn't sink much lower than that. I believe even the coaches didn't foresee this, particularly when Riley said around the time of the BYU game that this was the most "talented" team he ever coached. If that's the case, why have they performed so poorly?

The other side to this is that completely changing coaching staffs and a culture does not always work as fast as you want it to. In hindsight, any expectations of winning 9 or 10 games was probably wrong.

I think what we're seeing right now is a confluence of everything we all chose to ignore - the possibility that the talent, coaching, culture and expectations were not going to be even remotely on the same page.
We keep in rebuilding mode since Frank left.

exactly. By no means do I want Bo back, he needs to stay tf away from Nebraska, but let's be honest, he would have without a doubt went 10-4 or 9-4 with this team again. It's just what he did.

This statement smells like desperation. Rather than calming the waters, this only exacerbates the situation for all the reasons expounded upon by other posters in this thread. SE is clearly feeling some heat.

I think his days at NU are numbered.
