Add On Widgets

I don't know if this has been done before - or exactly how to do it - but in doing some work on the board settings today and reading the feedback, I noticed or was made aware of a few features that (I assume) used to be in the main function of the board but are now available as add ons.  I was curious what people thought about adding these.

Post Counter - Each post used to have a post number in the upper-right corner that was referenced from time to time later in the thread and was an easy way to grab a link to that post.  This is a free add on that seems to be well reviewed although there is one comment that says it doesn't work in 4.2 so perhaps it doesn't matter.

Online Status - This wasn't there before but might be interesting to see if someone you're having a discussion with is currently online.  Free.

Advanced Status Update - This one is Good News/Bad News.  The Good News is that it restores all the functionality - and adds significantly - to the Status Updates bar.  I don't know why it is changed to being pretty cumbersome to use but this looks like it would be pretty popular.  The Bad News is that it costs $15 to get for the first year then $7.50 per year after that.  Not that that's a huge amount but I just don't like it on principle.  I tried looking around for a different option but didn't see anything.

I also don't like it on principle, but the new status stuff has at least one serious drawback: you can't see the entire status or reply to it from the main page. Let's give the first two a try to see how that goes. Check with Chad about the status stuff.

I think you'll need an FTP account for this. Ask Dave for that.

While I agree about the principle of the matter, I believe it may be needed. I don't like having to go to the person's profile to view the replies of their status. At least the price seems reasonable enough that any donations should help cover it.

I tried downloading the first two but it tells me I am not allowed to do that.  I assume I don't have sufficient rights.  I don't know who would.
