Ads inside of threads are too intrusive.

Max, I understand you need to make money to keep the doors open here. But ever since you’ve acquired the board we’ve had more bugs, glitches, AD pop-ups, etc in that time frame than the rest of the years I’ve been on the board combined. There is a lot of short term patches and I get you can’t know a problem is occurring until it’s reported to you. But what is the long term plan to keep these incidents from popping up at the frequency they’ve been occurring at? It’s frustrating. I’ve posted for so long here but if I didn’t build so many great relationships on this site I would go to multiple other sites before this one. It’s got to be stymying new members from staying on this board, no? Let alone guests. They would never come back.

I agree that the ad issues are a problem. Trying to find that happy medium has been an ongoing challenge. The costs have gone up while the revenue has gone down. I have asked the ad ops to disable this latest Google Ads feature and not restore it for now. I appreciate your patience.

Thank you.  Back to good.

What's up with the giant red banner at the top of the page?  It starts with an ad inside.  When hit the x in that add to close it the banner remains and covers up 1/4 of the screen

The giant red banner at the top is a lot. We've now got that, ads on the right side of the page, ads on the left side of the page, and sometimes a pop up at the bottom. Yeesh.
Yeah same.  Red bar at top with Ad.  PopUp bar on bottom with Ad.  PopUp bar on left panel with Ad that covers the members name that typed a post.  The Ad on the left side of screen also covers the page # info and "go to Topic listing".  You have to hover your mouse over the Ad for it to disappear for a few seconds.  And then comes right back.

We got to live it with it and deal with it.  I'm fine I guess.  I'm not going to clear cookies, delete history or make any changes to my personal computer.  And I wont click the X on any ad on this site ever.  I just live with it, sadly.

Well, we now look like a total clickbait sight.  Now I feel like I need to triple verify everything I read.

With this many ads, I think we should all get paid?

Maybe 1 cent a post?

This red bar at the top sucks!!!!!!!!!!

The top and bottom ads are about the only thing keeping the lights on. If enough people are interested I can offer a no ads options for a small annual fee.

From 2006 to when the previous owners left, there was never ads or an option to pay annually.  Lights were always on.

Have you thought about turning them off over on Huskerpedia?  Or Huskermax
