Apparently Penn State talked to Bo about HC gig

OK...I told myself I wouldn't post until I read through all 6 pages. I wanted to get a "feel" for the conversation. I got to page 4 and realized the conversation just turned into a pissing match between a drunk and a person that enjoys getting peed on (we all have fun, but no real winner!!!)

From the posts I read, there are about 3 or 4 posters that have some reservations about Bo (Not Since 97 seems to have lost a kitten lately) However, I stopped counting at 15 posters that support Bo and think the idea of running him out of town is rediculous.

I will pose this idea (like I said, I stopped at page 4. Sorry if someone else has thought of it): how about reasonable people stop trying to convince crazy people. We'll never do it and just get very frustrated in the process.

Hopefully Pelini has enough sense to realize 15 out of 17/19 posters have his back.

Do you realize the difference the new NCAA rules on oversigning will have on the SEC in the next couple of years? The SEC has had the privilege of having the best of the best becuase they oversign and cut the ones they don't want. With the new rules, the 3* or 4* that had to earn spots will go somewhere else. The SEC will not have the depth they have now.

I believe the SEC will always be a strong conference (and I agree they are the best right NOW) but the B1G and BigXII will catch them within the next 2-3 years. If not, it means all the great players stay in the SEC but go to schools like Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, MSU, Kentucky, etc. If that is the case, the SEC will beat itself into mediocrity.

(Edit: "mediocrity" is a strong word. I meant the SEC will turn itself into a league much like the B1G where the conference champ has at least 2 losses. They will compete themselves out of NC's, therefore players will want to go to a school with a better chance. I could actually see the BigXII be a winner in this if they didn't go back to a championship game format)

Man I thought my wife was 97. Pretty much what I hear on a daily basis from her.

Bottom line is we can not fire Bo. The one booster that pays the bills loves him. He is not going anywhere.

If, I say if it were to happen it would be because Bo chose to leave. If fired it would take millions of dollars to convince a qualified coach to come here. Nebraska shys away from paying the going market value for top end coaches. Not even close and no desire to do so. See Tom's latest comment.

I have known Tom for many years, I do not think he is happy about the whole situation. I think there are problems with Bo, but financially we could not do away with him.

He is winning enough to keep the masses happy. The very dedicated to winning is the only thing, are not happy, but my guess never will be. If his totals drop to 8 a year, things could change and quickly. I feel he has another two years, but by then things must change.

And I truly believe the job opportunites are far over stated, and very doubtful of happening. Bo is not that hot of a prospect, he has nothing in his history as a Head Coach to warrant interest. Most feel his winning the North is like winning the Texas High School Championship, nice but no banana.

Look at his staff, look at him on the sidelines, look how he handles his depth, recruiting, fans, media, running defenses, Timeouts, special teams, O-lines, offense in general, doghouses, his wifes cute little gloves, his tireless excuses, 4 years of being young and inexperienced, Jamrog, Cotton, and his family getting fat off NU, and all those blowout losses and close calls against garbage teams in seriously weak arse schedules. Man ....whew are we lucky!

Ummm, you don't need pictures as proof to Pelinis failures, Just watch all his blowout losses in a row, including all the ones in Memorial Stadium and you can start back in the Solich days as he runs across the field to act like a baboon towards Snyder because Snyder exposed how weak his defenses really are. A first taste at his style and class as well as coaching talent

third, i would argue that the sec has a very similar style of offense as the B1G, only they get better athletes.

fourth, i am not going to argue that saban is a better coach than BO, i am not an idiot.

sixth, my point was that BO is a good defensive mind and you can not expect him to get the top talent year-in and year-out like saban and miles. it is not his fault he coaches in nebraska rather than the SEC, and every coach here will have that problem.

You're correct, I meant offense. There are coaches out there that can defend more than one type of offense or at least try to adjust properly. Its amazing how Nebraska can't get any good players and we're stuck with crap like Suh and the rest of the defensive players that fell in Pelinis lap.

I will have to agree that THIS staff won't be able to get the SEC types though, if they couldn't do it after Suhs domination, they never will. Our bowl game should be a good representation of where we sit in year 5

When you see the type of players Spurriers staff recruits playing on the same field with us, its going to be a rude awaking.
