Familiar visitors: Auburn played host to the defensive assistants from Nebraska on Monday and Tuesday, which became an exhaustive Cotton Bowl debriefing.

The coaching staffs reviewed film from the Jan. 1 bowl game -- Auburn beat the Cornhuskers 17-14 -- and exchanged information about play selection.

Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp said that helps coaches better understand their own weaknesses.

"It's pretty cool to hear why other teams run certain things against us," Muschamp said. "They're in another conference. We won't see them again for years and years. It's just good to sit down and talk with their guys. You can learn a lot."

Along with the satisfaction of helping fellow coaches, Auburn received detailed scouting reports on season-opening opponent Kansas State.

Nebraska and KSU are Big 12 Conference rivals

As much criticisim as this coaching staff takes, this is the kind of information that makes me think that they really want to learn and excel.

 
I thought the same thing.

The thing that i really thought was funny was the advance scouting report about KSU.

Thats great stuff.
