August is upon us. (The longest month of the year)

Ever since the NCAA did away with the short lived Kickoff classic games I have hated August. It's the so close you can taste it month. Everybody is talking about the upcoming season. It's analyzed and scurtinized and the prognosticators jabber away and ALL I want is SOME DAMN FOOTBALL! Not just any football though! High School football starts about mid August but that just doesn't quite do it. I work most Friday nights and the highlight real might offer a glimmer of talent here and there but for the most part it's blah blah blah...don't care... Then there is NFL pre season, which I couldn't give to shifts about because I hate the NFL and I hate the showboating. So in August each day is agony, each day is filled with anxious anticipation, each day is full of torturous Husker buzz. It's a wasted month of unzenlike longing for each day to be over inching our way to September. Fortunately this year I only have to hate most of August. College football kicks off on Thursday August 30th! Thank goodness for small favors!

 
The anticipation of the 2nd season in the B1G is great! I am expecting to surprise some teams this year.

I would take August anytime over January or February. And that's saying something! January has a bunch of the bowl games plus NFL games, and February also has NFL games, as well as my B-Day. Would still take August before them.

 
I have having the same toruble as well. with all the stadium updates and fall pratice coming up. although i like the nfl so i will have a little taste of football aug 6th when the Broncos play the Bears but i like college ball more so until sept 1 i will be grabbing at every husker news like i have all summer long

 
I never like August either. Summer is almost over and school starts. Fall camp starts which means 2-a-days. It's also the time to hold your breath and hope you don't have injuries. Fishing is not the greatest. Usually it's hot. The best thing about August is fall is around the corner.

It has seemed longer with the lack of spring game this yr. I look forward to a fresh W-L column just as always in summer hope for ALL Dubbyas eyeswear2allthatsholy :wasted
