After 3 years of being in pain, im finally getting my back surgery.

They are going in to repair 2 ruptured disks, L4 and L5 in my spine.

I wont even be able to drive for 3 weeks, which is ok because my truck was in Rita, lol.

The doctor says ill be fully recovered in 3-6 months, but I think it will take much longer than that.

Has anybody ever had this surgery, or know anybody thats had this surgery, if so how did it affect them afterwards and how long did it take them to get back on their feet and back to day to day life.

Wish me luck and Go Big Red!

Thanks, they are saying that its probably not going to help my back that much, but will make my leg feel 100 percent better because the 2 disks are pressing on 2 different nerves that go down my leg.

Best of Luck on your operation Nate! I have an uncle who's had tons of knee surgeries and a friend who had surgery to repair scoliosis but nothing quite like what you're having done. Let us know how it goes and hopefully the Skers will win some games for ya, that's speed up recovery time right?

Prayers for a speedy recovery Nate!

My boss had a similar procedure done (though only on one disk) and he was back at work and pain free within 2 weeks. Not sure if it's exactly what you'll be having, but he also suffered from bulging/herniated disks and they were able to repair it orthoscopically (the biggest thing that required recovery was that they had to go in through his abdomen to reach the inside of the disk and that's what took him out for 2 weeks - the actual repair was a snap from what I understand).

They can do amazing stuff nowadays, so take heart. And just keep reminding yourself how nice it will be to be able to get out of bed and be able to stand up straight and not have your knees aching!
