Blake

Earlier on Thursday CaneSport.com reported that Nebraska defensive line coach John Blake has emerged as the leading candidate to replace former Miami defensive line coach Greg Mark. Following Thursday’s practice, Blake released a statement that said he has no interest in the opening in Coral Gables.

Blake isn't going anywhere (thank god!)...

"I have not been contacted by the University of Miami," Blake said. "I respect their program, but have no interest in any position there. I am totally committed to the Nebraska football program and helping us build a championship program here. My family and I are here at Nebraska as long as Nebraska wants us. I am focused on helping our team prepare to play Missouri."

For Coker to bring up these rumors during the season is COMPLETELY disrespectful to the NU program. Not only does it hurt us with recruiting, it causes distractions in the media and with the players wondering if their coach would be leaving. I guess it just gives me more incentive to hate Miami.
Coker needed to wait until after the season and pursue this. He could've promoted in-house and finished this season and not cause turmoil in someone elses locker room with these distractions.

So here's to you Coach Coker, a big F U!
Who is Miami going after that Neb. is?? as far as recruiting

It had nothing to do with that.

If you're a recruit, you don't want to develop a relationship with a guy who may or may not be there when you arrive on campus. It scares recruits away when Blake might call or show up at a game, then not knowing if he will be there when you arrive.

Case in point was with Terrence Nunn and Turner Gill. When the coaching changes were happening, no one knew if Gill was sticking around. Nunn decommited once over that, but luckily came back. IIRC, their was a recruit out of Louisiana we lost for the same reason that year.

Also, Blake has strong Christian beliefs like Ron Brown. I believe there is a very good Christian program in Lincoln that Blake is involved in. I would think that will be a strong factor.

There is also a story on rivals.com about Blake being a possibility for the job at Miami. There seems to be two reasons to put this story out there.

1. To sabotage his recruiting at Nebraska

2. Because there's some truth to it

Both of those reasons suck for the Huskers.

you are wrong heckler.........blake stays because this is a great program and he will be rewarded for his recruiting and coaching......Miami doesn't need a recruiter and quite frankly Croker runs a slimy program, full of slim-ball kids
