Board Rules - Changes to Page

In the Control Panel - Content - Pages. When you create the page, you have the option to use the IPB wrapper. Then, you can populate the actual content with either PHP or HTML. Had to play with it a bit to get it right, and there are some oddities, of course. In-line CSS is kind of hit-or-miss. Some things work in-line, and others seem to have no effect and the wrapper CSS applies. So, I may go into that CSS file and add a section that I can apply to the Rules and the eventual Privacy policy page.

And that's another oddity. The Rules page is called an External page. You would think that when you set it up, that page would be what people see when they register. It isn't. Instead, there is a separate section for the Rules to be presented in a pop-up window from the Registration page. Once someone registers, if they click the Board Rules link, they get the page I created. So if you want both to be identical as to content, you have to edit in two places. The pop-up is just that - doesn't include the wrapper and is not really a "page".

And it gets even odder. On the sign-in page, near the bottom, is a link to the Privacy rules for the board (which is now just a generic set of rules from IPB). Like the Rules, if we set up a specific page for Privacy, folks will get it only after they register. They'll get the page we're going to create only after they sign in.

Just an update. Chad and Eric have approved the Privacy statement, so I've also created a page for that. I have also added links to both pages to the black bar at the top of all pages (the one just above the banners). Additionally, I added a link to the Privacy policy to the Registration page (it already had a link to the Rules page - they have to check that they have reviewed the rules and agreed before registering). Fortunately, the login page already has a link to the Privacy statement. Anyway, I think everything has been covered, but if you notice any issues with functionality for all of this, please let me know. Thanks, everyone - to quote the Grateful Dead, "What a long, strange trip it's been."
