Hi,


Upgrade is now complete on the test site, http://www.huskerboard.com/staging/.

There are a lot of background tasks going on that you can view in the backend. There might be some weird formatting issues until everything completes. Posts of your size may take 1-2 days to complete, so board may appear slightly slow for a little bit.

Play around, etc. Most likely some styling tweaks I need to take care of that I didn’t see on my dev.

This is a "dry run" test of the actual upgrade process. The purpose is to identify any issues and tweaks that still need to happen. Please let us know if you see anything here!

 
I'm not sure exactly what Brian is asking for here. I think it's just for errors that you see. If you have a suggestion feel free to pass it along, likewise, but I think we want to be done with the "design" phase and we're just trying to get to the software upgrade.

 
Sounds good. I just noticed a few things missing from the main page but I didn't know where they were in the process. The Status Updates, Birthdays, Newest Threads, ads

and some icons are all missing so I'm assuming it's still a work in progress but I wasn't sure what kind of feedback they are looking for at this point.

 
Yeah, I'll ask for some clarification about what he's looking for too. "Newest Threads" might be something that's featured differently in IPS4. I'm not sure about the other stuff. Can you log in as Mavric and look at the ACP? What are the missing icons?

 
Ah, from the ACP I see that there are a lot of background processes running, one of which is "rebuilding status updates".

 
A couple issues that I've seen reported or come across:

  1. Only the most recent five status updates are displayed.  I've been trying to find a setting for that but haven't yet.
  2. Twitter links with video are not embedding, only showing the link This is working for me.  I'll check with the Member that reported it.
  3. No list of recent topics (not sure how important that is to everyone).
  4. All the emoticons are still in there but only the first few show up when you click the toolbar button.

On the emoticons, only a few show up the first time.  But if you click Categories (upper right) and select Emoticons, they are all there.

 
There doesn't appear to be any difference.  It appears they both give the user a +1 reputation point.

We can enable/add other reactions if we like.

You used to be able to click on that to see who voted that way but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

 
Poop (about seeing who voted what way).

Personally, I think we should eliminate the 'Up Vote' option just to avoid confusion :)  . Up voting to me suggests that the post will go higher in the thread like Reddit.

Out of curiosity, what other type of reactions are possible? Because if there's an 'Internet High Five' reputation selection, that seems like a no brainer.

 
Found the setting so you should be able to see who voted now.

Thanks, Haha, Confused and Sad are the others that are in the system right now.  I assume those are the defaults.

I'd be fine with getting rid of one of them.  I might see if I can find a +1 graphic so it kind of matches the old system.
