Bubba Starling made the correct decision in choosing baseball

Could he be our silent commit?
I lol'd. Too.

I don't care if he plays for KC in 2016, decides to retire, or suddenly loses a limb he made the right choice with baseball. Enough guaranteed cash to be set for life right out of high school? Yeah that's the right way to go.

A local kid on the Royals roster would be a marketing boon to the team. If he has acquired the hitting skills necessary his star is going to take off.

These situations are frustrating. I honestly hope Nebraska doesn't get commitments from these guys again unless we already have the position filled, have room in the class for a long shot like this...etc.

This kid and the kid who committed to Solich only to go play baseball (can't remember his name) do nothing more than make the recruiting class look better than it really is and possibly leaves a gap in the position in recruiting.

I wish this kid all the best in the world and love it that, if he were to play football, he would have come to Nebraska. But....just don't have a desire to be in these situations in the future.

And...yes....he made the right decision for him.

I think Carl Crawford is who you're thinking of.

I don't have any problem recruiting these guys. Try to get the best talent you can. I see your point about being full at a position but usually we end up with at least one spot open. In this case, it's not like it hurt us at QB. Would have been great to have him but we had Carnes the year before, had Turner is this class and got TA the next year. Not all those guys ended up working out but we had options at the time. Plus we had Martinez so we knew we had a couple years yet.

It's really not that different than saving a spot for Dez Fitzpatrick or Isaiah Simmons and losing out at the last minute with no time to get a replacement.
