Burrow let us discuss

So?

we didn’t want him, he went where someone did want him. Done and done.

If we recruit him as a freshman and he’s here the whole time is he who he is now? Are we where we are now if he was here the whole time? Who knows and who cares? He’s where he is and doing great. Can’t count us being where we want to be because those before the coaches who are here now didn’t want him. He went where he was wanted and he’s doing great. Good for him and them.

I see us, literally, a few plays a game from being where we want to be. We are SO close. Burrow may or may not have helped us. So whatever. He’s not as good here as he is there cuz he was never here.

I’m not crying about what could have been. I’m going to exalt in the sweet river when we get there cuz I never thought we wouldn’t be there.  Fan for Life, Go Big Red...lets ride with who we have

With Burrow having a fantastic year for LSU, it seems fans wanting to b!^@h about Frost and how he’s a terrible coach and how this season sucks are using this as another opportunity to point this out.

Yes, NU has sucked this year. Yes, Frost and his staff deserve blame for that. However, Burrow kicking a$$ at LSU has nothing to do with NU’s lack of success this year and any blame on put on Frost for not trying to bring him in as a transfer in 2018 is pure hindsight.

Burrow not coming to NU out of high school was Bo’s/Beck’s fault.  They didn’t recruit him very hard/at all.  When Burrow was looking to transfer, he was looking for a starting spot. That wasn’t going to be given to him at NU, with Martinez and Gebbia competing for the QB job.

Fans may not want to admit this, but there is a good chance Martinez beats Burrow out at QB last year and Burrow spends his time at NU as a backup, or splitting time as the #1 QB this year. Martinez was pretty dang good last year, and Burrow was pretty average. Now Burrow is awesome this year, and Martinez has been the average QB. Any fan who could have predicted that, I’m sure they have that Vegas ticket with their bet for Burrow to win the Heisman at 100:1 or whatever odds it was at the beginning of the season.

Stop using Burrow’s season this year as another reason to crap on Frost and the coaching staff. There are plenty of reasons to do so, but Burrow isn’t one of them.

I think a lot of fans need to take a self imposed time out until a few years from now.

Im starting to wonder if people watch college football outside of Nebraska.  Burrow is doing well because he has a good oline, a good rb, and the second best wr corp in college football.  Jordan Jefferson is also a top 5-7 wr.

This was true last year and for the most part, has always been the case at LSU.  Burrow has exploded due to the fact that LSU hired Joe Brady from the Saints to run their passing game.  I think we call all agree that was a pretty good hire lol!  Both of them are about to get paidddddddddddd.

What does questioning the decision on Burrow have anything to do with us sucking? A lot of the people questioning Frost’s decision were doing the same at the time. To act like there’s only criticism in hindsight is ridiculous.

Many of us knew Gebbia wasn’t long for Frost’s offense. Given the “culture” that was instilled by Riley, why would anyone expect Gebbia to stick around?

You can trot around on your high horse, but your lack of foresight is no reason to criticize those who questioned it the entire time. We are simply pointing out that what we thought should have been done probably should have been done.

If you’ve never made a “told you so” statement before, I’m surprised you’re posting on an internet message board.

The only real failure in recruiting Burrow lies with Bo Pelini and Tim Beck.  He really wanted to come to Nebraska out of HS.  He was rated a high 3* or 4* depending on the recruiting site. For what ever reason Beck wasn't impressed and didn't recruit him at all.  All they had to do was offer a scholarship and he would have been Nebraska bound.  This was in 2014, so Burrow took a scholarship offer from Ohio St.  After BP was fired Mike Riley and Co tried to get back in on him.  Offered a scholarship, but he stuck with his commitment to OSU.  It was basically the same scenario with Noah Fant. BP only wanted him as a D-End, Iowa wanted him as a TE.  Riley tried to get back in on him, but it didn't work.

I don't feel as if Nebraska just needed to offer him a scholarship and he would have been Nebraska bound. I don't remember hearing that at all at the time. Maybe he would have went to Nebraska, but they still would have needed to hold of OSU and others.

Glad Burrow is having the success he is having at LSU. His success at LSU certainly does not mean he would have success here at Nebraska.

Why? Who are the WR's he would throw to? We don't have any talented WR's besides Robinson and Robinson is just an overall really good football player.

We don't have an offensive line that can protect him. Being rushed on almost every play, and having no reliable WR's to throw to, I don't think Burrow is remotely as successful at Nebraska as he is at LSU.
