Callahan: NU will take typical approach this week

Gimme a break.

I am guess he should break out Hogan style

IT'S A BIG GAME BROTHER!!!.

Please.

no Dave, but this IS college ball and a few real upbeat comments sure could not have hurt. If i was a player i think i would be looking for a little more "attitude" in the coaches comments. May not mean much to you, but remember huge motivation and positive comments (beside through prep) can make a huge difference in how the kids perceive the game. Seemed pretty damn dull to me, with little more than, "this is just another game we want to win". sounds like "just one game and just one season" to me. somethings are hard to forget, aren't they??

You really think the players rush to the dorm to listen to the coach's Big 12 press conference? Methinks they don't. Why would they?

I think you're looking for motivation in the wrong place. A Big 12 press conference is the wrong place. The practice field and the locker room are better places to look.

Cally is probably tired of being asked about USC by now and is tired of hearing how good they are and blah blah blah and is probably trying to get the message across that they are just another team and another rung on the ladder to success.

Has anyone ever seen any emotion from Cally? I am not saying he needs to act like Bill Cower but I haven't seen very emotional teams either. We seem to take a while to get into big games.

Plenty of times. Never at a press conference..

Well I take that back. After Colorado in 05 and after KSU in 04 I think it was. Oh and after Michigan in 05.

Oh, after the games against mediocre opponents that's a good idea. I was talking about during the game and in big games.
Well, there was the throat slash gesture - for which he was roundly criticized.

But overall, no - he tends to be very controlled on the sideline, just like Dr. Tom.

Like I said. Yes. But I figured we were talking about press conferences as that's what the topic is.

So he can only show some kind of emotion after a big win? KSU was a loss, by the way. Talk about damned if you do, damn if you don't. You're reaching a bit, man.

Again, it's just one of those things you don't see when you aren't at the game. I watched every home game last year and every home game except one in 05. Don't get me wrong, he doesn't do backflips on a regular basis but he's definitely involved in the emotion of game.

Honestly, man, I am convinced he can do pretty much no right in your eyes. So arguing is pointless.

He can do right. He does a lot right but he does a lot wrong. The difference between Dr. Tom and BC is that teams for TO played with emotion. I don't see BC's teams playing with big passion and I wonder if it is a reflection of the coach. If he is aggressive in play calling and shows emotion during the game, and I don't mean like Cower, then maybe the team will respond better.
