Talk about bad timing to bring this up again! I mean we're only trying to land one of the best high school defensive prospects to show interest in NU in the last decade. I'd rather not have this crud going around again!

i have a source saying the same thing is true. rumor is T.O. told Bo that Carl had to go and Bo said "If Carl goes, I go." When it's all said and done I can't see Bo quitting. If Carl is fired, Bo needs to understand that it is for a legitimate reason. we'll survive without Carl. losing Bo would be disastrous.

 
Assuming the rumors are true..

Isn't our Athletic department healthy enough that we wouldn't let a booster(s)call the shots?

And I'd be a little disappointed in Bo if he didn't threaten to quit if he was forced to fire his brother.

Not a good way to instill loyalty in your head coach if you start taking personnel decisions away from him.

If I were Bo I'd stick up for my bro too.

That said, a couple things. Baffled as to why it's important that it's a booster. Maybe it's not. But Carl's marriage and personal life are his own things that he has to deal with. As the leader of young men, it's something that you might consider as part of his character...so I do see potential grounds there. But overall, my impression now is that it would be pretty draconian to dismiss a coach for this reason - that, or a little emotion-based.

Second, when Bo was being hired, the rumors (of the "where there's smoke..." variety) seemed to point to the whole thing being a Boosters-sponsored done deal. Which makes me a little <_< about how much control the boosters might have.

Dr. Tom's actions in this area, if true, are a little surprising to me. This whole episode has left a bad taste in our mouths, and I just wish it would go away.

There is trouble brewing inside the athletic department.

There was a rumor circulating before the Big XII game that Carl Pelini was having an affair with a booster's daughter and Osborne was in the process of getting him a defensive coordinator job someplace else. Then the OWH reported that Carl was getting a substantial raise (up from 108K to 375K) but Osborne, you may have noticed, quickly issued a statement that no such deals were in place.

Now, more details have come out. Apparently the rumor is true and the woman is a former Ms. Nebraska. The persons (soon to be ex) father-in-law was a big hitter banker in Grand Island who sold his string of banks for about 95M 5 years ago and moved to Scottsdale. He has apparently gone all the way up to Harvey and is not about to let it go. Rumor has it that he has pulled millions of dollars in support for the University already.

Connected to that rumor is the rumor that Osborne told Bo that Carl had to go and Bo responded something to the effect of "If Carl goes, I go." Lets hope it doesn't come to that.

Wow my mom must have the same inside source that some of the people on here have because she forwarded me a chain e-mail that was word for word the same (minus the editing) as the above post. Interesting. <_<

 
So is the redacted source reliable? Or just more rumors all the people who say the runor is 100% true have you seen the two together. Or just heard/read a source that you trust?

 
This is something that has always seemed like too much smoke for there not to be a fire..

But I'll have to admit, newearth's revelation that it's being passed around in chain email puts a damper on it. Not good company to be in, if you're a rumor vying for people to believe in you. Maybe if you don't email to 20 of your friends in the next hour, Nebraska will have ten years of losing seasons...

Not exactly . . . the affair did happen. The divorce is pending.

We don't know whether the booster is looking to get Carl fired or not . . . that part and Carl's future at NU are the parts we don't know about.
