Carlfense...

Agree with what's been said. In addition, saunders replay to the PM said exactly what I was thinking. There is a difference between posting a link to an article on a web site that also has a message board and posting links to another site that where the message board is the main attraction.

That being said, I've always wondered if we should stay away from HuskerMax links, just to be on the safe side on that particular site.

carl has asked for his account to be banned or deleted. I've suspended his account indefinitely, which he may not feel is adequate -- but I don't really care. It's an unusual request to begin with, and he has done nothing wrong.

Ha ha! I suspect you denied him what he actually wanted. I'll bet he wanted to be banned so the word "Banned" would appear under his avi photo.

He might have "banned" under his name with the suspension...I really don't know, but I want to reserve the full ban method for people who do things wrong. Which, by the way, he said he was going to do, or I wouldn't even have done this -- when I told him we don't delete accounts (the first thing he requested), he said he would make some posts to get banned and I asked him not to do that.

Yeah. I've always liked having him around and reading his posts; it's too bad.

Another reason I was hesitant to do a full ban, it's harder to reverse. This at least kind of leaves the door open. I checked with AR to ask what he thinks, as now he's asking why his request wasn't granted on Twitter.

There's no end to this game, it seems, and I don't want to set a precedent where we're going to have more disgruntled HLR members PMing us asking for bans. On the other hand, if they go down the "posting to get banned" route, then we'll have to accommodate at some point, I guess.

Yeah, it's too bad to lose Carlfense. He was well respected by all. It's his choice though.

It'd be funny to quote some of his posts in the P&R forum with an argument or counterpoint. Like this: LINK. I'm sure it will bug him, as a lawyer, to not have a voice to respond with.

Right. And it's pretty simple: they won't get a platform to promote their new site here, no matter how much they'd like to. Hooligans didn't get it, HPH didn't get it, all those blogs without forums didn't get it; this won't change now.

For all the patient explaining and answering of questions I've done for carlfense, Junior, and other members throughout this whole tiring saga, it's clear that some of them just need something to be outraged over. If it's not this, it's that.

I don't really know what to do, but I (hope) that what we've given them to date has been nothing less than patience and fairness. They're just not having any of it.

He can if he wants, that entire group wants nothing but to say they were done wrong and try and start some bullsh#t conspiracy situation. It's not, get a life............

I have no idea what Carl thinks he accomplished or what sacred principle he upheld...and to be honest, I really don't care. I enjoyed reading his posts, but there have been a lot of people whose posts I enjoyed reading over the years. People come and people go. But that's just the nature of the beast.

His decision, his choice. The funny thing is that folks like this go out in some grandiose gesture, thinking it will resonate with those staying. It doesn't - they may be a little curious, but ultimately it's a VERY tiny blip on their screen.

As you'll recall, when the bans went down the ones banned or their buddies proclaimed loudly that Huskerboard would die. It didn't, of course, and to most members the banned folks are largely forgotten. The tenor of the conversation may have changed - far less of the frat boy mentality - but the number of topics and posts are as high as ever.
