I see what you're saying. It doesn't sit well with me to see someone lose their job because of a political candidate they supported and/or worked for, as a general rule of thumb.And my point is why shouldn’t it be?
Some states do prohibit discrimination based on political affiliation, but most do not and there's no federal law I'm aware of. Why? I think a vast majority of people likely consider political affiliation to be more of a "choice" than something like sexual orientation, age, race or gender. And I think people also take religious views very, very seriously, hence the protection. I don't think a majority of people view political perspectives in the same light as any of those other things.
Ultimately, not sure how I feel about it. I have openly questioned the morals and judgement of people who support Trump. But would I have used that against an employee? No, I don't think I would have.
