CFB Risk

Eh, overall we're about the same as we have been over the last few days. It just kinda sucks to lose the homeland, you know?

If you click on a territory on the map, and then click View History, it'll show you the results of fighting each day in that territory. Click on the second to last icon, and it'll show you the results of yesterday's battle.

For example, here's last night's battle in Nebraska (some say Lincoln, to be clear that you're talking about the territory and not the team): https://collegefootballrisk.com/territory/Nebraska/2/37

If you look at the top section, the winner (in this case Chaos) is highlighted in green on the left. Notice the Chance column, it shows that we had a 0.64 (ie 64%) chance to win the territory, while Chaos had 0.35 (ie 35%) chance to win it. So we had nearly twice the odds of victory that Chaos had, buuut Chaos still pulled off the upset. It happens.

Wow- just tried to read rules. So, it’s a statistical bot that compares stars of the attacker against stars of the defender? Do we all make the same moves everyday? Or do we split the moves?

We all make our own moves. If you like, you're free to make your own move (sometimes called 'going rogue'), we just use the daily orders to try to coordinate things.

@krc1995 If you're on the Discord, go into the #maps room, Shuffler posts daily PDFs that show where each team had their forces deployed the previous day (it's basically a combined version of what you get by pulling up different teams on that Odds page I linked).

You can also see the overall battlefield heatmap on the Leaderboard page: https://collegefootballrisk.com/leaderboard

If we only attacked Wisconsin tonight, could we eliminate them?

Nah, not even close. One of Wisconsin's biggest advantages is that they have a lot of 'safe' territories, with no one around to attack them. Like look at all of those territories in the mitten, there's no one else bordering them.

Something to remember about Chaos: they get a random bonus for attacking, but they don't get it for defending. So it's relatively easy to retake territories that Chaos owns.

Supposedly the guy who runs it has put in some stuff to help combat bots & alt accounts. Who knows how well it actually works, though.

  • Not a bad day for us, net gain of three territories
  • We successfully stamped out Chaos's presence in the northwest. They still control both Kansas territories, though, so we need to make sure they don't spread from there.
  • It wasn't a great day for our biggest ally, Michigan, who lost a lot of territories. They still hold onto first place, though.
  • Right now, we hold Western Kentucky, and I'd like to see us strike from our position there. Ohio State has been expanding their presence in that area, Georgia Tech is open to attack in Middle Tennessee, and it looks like A&M is moving into that area to connect to their allies and get away from Michigan.

@nic You know that's yesterday's map, right? :P
