Chancellor and AD have to be on board for successful football program

If I could go back and change it I’d still like to see what would have happened the next couple years with Pelini as DC. 


I think it's pretty likely that our defense would have improved.  And that might have been enough to win quite a few games.

But I think our offense was in the tank.  Eric Crouch masked a lot of offensive short-comings and when we didn't have a QB who could win games by himself, we were struggling to score against decent teams.

Yards per Play:

2001 - Offense: 6.2, Defense 4.2

2002 - O: 5.4, D: 5.0

2003 - O: 4.9, D: 4.4

So the defense got quite a bit better in 2003 but the offense was still falling like a rock.  The defense being better helped us win the games against bad teams but we got blown out by the good teams because our offense was bad.
