Children and immigration reform

I can’t help but smile when I hear another one of these stories. It’s so refreshing when the right people suffer the consequences of their stupid actions. It helps makeup, ever so slightly, for all the people suffering who didn’t ask for it. This guy? He voted for Trump and even now won’t say he has buyer’s remorse. Haha, f#&% You!

Yeah…..then spare me the crying story about your employees if you can’t say in the end you regret the vote.

History repeats itself:  From Nazi Germany

15. This anti-Semitic poster in Russian is probably from 1941. A visitor tells me it can translated as follows: “Get the Jewish-Bolshevist warmongers out of Europe!”

31. The Nazis conducted two major anti-Semitic campaigns during the first half of 1943. I think that this one was issued during the first of them in February, just after the defeat at Stalingrad. The text: “The slogan for 1943: Unstoppably onward until final victory!”

The caption: “The Jew: The inciter of war, the prolonger of war.” This poster was released in late 1943 or early 1944. The artist was Hans Schweitzer (“Mjölnir”). Courtesy of Dr. Robert D. Brooks.

That’s weird how enforcing existing law kinda works.  I guess we didn’t need to codify up to 5,000 encounters per day before strict measures were put in place for the country to get a handle on the problem.

Across the entire span of the U.S.-Mexico border, the change is stark — and it happened nearly overnight. Where Border Patrol agents encountered well over 100,000 migrants and asylum seekers every month just a year ago, they now see fewer than 10,000.

More than four months into President Trump's second term, one of his signature campaign promises — shutting down the flow of migrants across the border — seems fulfilled. Reporters with the USA TODAY Network traveled to 15 sites along the border from the Pacific to the Gulf, from California to Arizona and Texas, and found much of the same situation in each: few migrants were attempting to cross; once bustling shelters for migrants were ghost towns; local officials expressed relief for no longer having to assist with the flood of people.

Illegal immigration in the area ended almost immediately after the Border Patrol stopped releasing asylum seekers and the government began meting out “consequences” to illegal border crossers, including imprisonment and quick deportations, Castrejon said.

A little context confirms that border crossings -- typically a combination of both refugee crisis and U.S. policy -- started their sharp decline in 2023. They also had a spike during Trump's first term.

It's worth reiterating that there's not a single person amongst us who isn't totally in favor of getting dangerous criminals off the streets (with due process). It's when the methodology and the results go so far beyond that into terrorizing communities and neighborhoods, violating the constitution, acting with no accountability and reckless abandon that folks are rightfully going to say hell no.

There's no framework in which the people who have made my favorite pizza and tacos and do my landscaping for years are the bad guys while the anonymous masked people with guns and tanks are the good guys.

A billionaire Walmart heiress is publicly speaking out against President Trump, breaking with the rest of the wealthy family and risking backlash for the retail empire.

Christy Walton, the widow of one of the Walmart founder’s sons, took out a full-page ad in national newspapers, calling for people to “defend against aggression by dictators” and participate in demonstrations around the country this weekend, known as the “No Kings” protests. Walton took out a similar ad at the end of March.

The latest ad has thrust the Walton family, one of America’s richest, into a spotlight that it has largely tried to avoid. The ad has sparked cries for a boycott of Walmart on social media and grabbed the attention of Trump’s supporters and detractors.

“The advertisements from Christy Walton are in no way connected to or endorsed by Walmart,” said a Walmart spokeswoman. Walton didn’t alert or coordinate with the company before running the ads, according to people familiar with the situation.

Walton, 76, isn’t involved in the company or the trusts that hold the family’s stake. She married one of founder Sam Walton’s sons, John, and inherited some of his wealth when her husband died in 2005 in a small-aircraft accident in Wyoming. She primarily lives in Jackson Hole, Wyo., far from the company’s Bentonville, Ark., headquarters.

Here's another video with the Senator being cuffed.  A United States Senator in his home state.

It's not like we've been warning about the descent into fascism that would occur under a second Trump regime.  Of course, this might cause some cognitive dissonance among the authoritarian curious but the more narcissistic in the bunch will deal with that by responding with a laughy emoji in an effort to gaslight the board into believing this isn't a serious breach of democratic norms.  And no, for the slow blinkers, I'm not referring to the Democratic Party.

Did you see where they said the feds are in CA to “liberate this city from the socialist leadership?”

Even if that wasn’t buzzword BS, that leadership was democratically elected by the people they represent.

It’s much faster and simpler to just say f#&% these fascist douchebags. Do away with the pretense of decorum, they don’t deserve it.
