Comp specs

What kind of contraptions are people still running nowadays?

I have a:

i5 6600k @ 4.2GHz

MSI z170a Gaming M5 mobo

MSI 1050 2GB graphics

16GB DDR4 2800MHz

120GB NVMe boot drive

1TB m.2 sata ssd

H100i cooler

Freshly built in the last year

2013 Macbook Pro 15" - the first generation with retina display

2.3GHZ i7

16GB 1600mhz DDR3 ram

GeForce GT 750M 2048mb graphics card

512gb SSD

Going to be upgrading to a new 2018 spec'd out macbook pro in a few weeks. Not honestly a huge fan of them but I'm a slave to the Apple ecosystem and not being portable and not being on a Mac aren't really feasible options for me right now.

Thankfully I picked up some very very high paying contract/freelance work for pretty much all of the fall which will allow me to get a new computer, pay off some debts, and get some savings.  It's weird not being a starving artist lol

If I have a choice, I'll never edit video or pictures on anything other than a Mac. It's just a superior product and the utility between devices still outpaces anything I've seen on the PC side.

That said, I desperately need to update my gaming PC. It's been about four years since I did a full overhaul. I've upgraded the graphics card recently, but, pretty much everything else needs a restart.

Nothing fancy...

AMD FX-6300 6-core CPU @ 3.5GHz

16GB DDR3 RAM

Radeon 5770 GPU (ancient and overdue for an upgrade, but I don't really play any graphics-intensive games these days)

Crucial MX100 256GB SATA SSD + Seagate Barracuda 4TB HD

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface

SilverStone Sugo SG10B MicroATX case

Pentium 1, 133mhz

16MB Ram

3.5 Floppy

Windows 95

I have to admit, really well done here.  It took me a while to catch the 16 MB of RAM.

If any of you guys are thinking about upgrading, now is a good time to start tracking Newegg.
