It pains me to see a very good athlete leave the state. I know he had a Husker offer but we already have 4 commits with Malachi Coleman still waiting in the wings. I wish him well and all the success in the world.

I'd like to, too.  But with the room we have left in the class, I think everyone would rather get Coleman. The days of a guy like Ngoyi walking on are, sadly, long gone. He deserves to go get a scholarship.

I'm not going to pretend to know more about this situation than I do. But I believe the interest on our side was lacking, if Mickey had really wanted this guy, he probably could have got him. However it feels like a decent amount of these guys we don't get pop-off at another school and we regret it later.

Sounds like he is more just coming as a friend of Coleman.  I don't think he has a committable offer here.

Yep.  Word is Joseph has always been high on him but we didn't think we had a spot. 

But now there is all but a guarantee of significant attrition after the season so let him commit and figure it out later.

Hopefully the HC he committed to will be our coach and Mickey will be the WR coach.

There is apparently a lot of sentiment that he's a better DB prospect.  The thinking is he doesn't have good enough hands to be a P5 receiver.  But is plenty athletic.
