Ice is less dense then water. Was there ice cubes in the punch that were posined and when they melted, they poisioned the punch and that's why he didn't get sick?

A man went to a party and drank some of the punch. He then left early. Everyone else at the party who drank the punch subsequently died of poising. Why did the man not die?

 

The poison in the punch came from the ice cubes in it. When the man drank from the punch the ice had just been added and was still solid. Gradually, during the course of the evening, the ice melted contaminating the punch with the poison.
