Defensive game plan for CU

Does anyone really believe that Coz is going to prepare his best defensive gameplan? He has no reason to prepare anything for Colorado, so I wouldn't be shocked to see him play prevent defense for 4 quarters. The players are our only hope, which is also a scary thought at this point. He could help himself find another job, but who would hire him to coach after this season?
I know it is easy to be hard on the guy, but he is not going to not do his best. Perhaps his best is not good enough, but he won't purposely throw the game.

There is one way to play defense, and that is to attack. You dictate to the offense what they can do, not the other way around.

It took McBride years and years to figure that out. Once he did, we had the Blackshirts of the 90s, and all the havoc they wrought on opponents.

We did a bit of that against Texas and a lot more against KSU. The recipe is simple in scope, but detailed in action.

I just wish we would have been doing this all year. Every single game could have been much, much different.
Frankly though...I don't think the Blackshirts of the 90's stacked up well against the 70's version that wrought even more havoc on their opponents. Fast and physical line that played and attacked the gaps...great pursuing linebackers. Those guys didn't have to blitz. They just destroyed people and broke stuff.

our defense will be Passive Aggressive.

look for the following things...

  • Ambiguity
  • Avoiding responsibility by claiming forgetfulness
  • Blaming others
  • Chronic lateness and forgetfulness
  • Complaining
  • Does not express hostility or anger openly - (e.g., expresses it instead by leaving notes)
  • Fear of authority
  • Fear of competition
  • Fear of dependency
  • Fear of intimacy
  • Fosters chaos (not the good kind)
  • Intentional inefficiency (example: USC and Kansas games)
  • Making excuses
  • Losing things
  • Lying
  • Obstructionism
  • Procrastination
  • Resentment
  • Resists suggestions from others
  • Sarcasm (oh reeeeeally?)
  • Stubborness
  • Sullenness
