Distasteful User Name

It's not an agenda really, just an opinion. I don't think there's anything wrong with his discussion of the opinion; disagree or not.

That's pretty obvious. That thread should be locked and he should be put on Mod Preview. Two very questionable moves immediately upon joining the board. Not cool.

And he's two-for-two on very unflattering Bo Pelini avatars. We've had similar trolls perpetrated on us before.

I'm willing to believe this guy is a Lawrence Phillips fan. He says he was five years old when he watched Lawrence play, and while that's questionable that this would make such a memorable impression on a now 22-year-old, it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

However, I'm not willing to believe that a Husker fan has his head so far in a hole that he doesn't get that joining a Husker message board and naming yourself after the player nearly every other fan base uses to cast aspersions on our team is a very bad idea.

But let's pretend that he really doesn't get that this would be something that would annoy/inflame other Husker fans.

At the same time he chooses his user name, he uploads a picture of Bo Pelini that appears as though Bo is flipping someone off. I'm willing to believe this is unintentional, but combined with the user name... nuh-uh. Starting to get mighty suspicious.

Next, he changes his user name to something bland, but puts another Pelini avatar up that's less than flattering. So he's a Lawrence Phillips fan, doesn't get that naming himself "Free Lawrence Phillips" is likely to cause trouble, and he's not a Bo Pelini fan. Starting to get really thin on the "not a troll" ice.

Next, he makes a few non-threatening posts, but then his latest is this thread I just put in the junkyard. There is no way a guy has his head so far in the sand that he would seriously make a thread like that if he's a Husker fan. Combine that with the baiting original user name, the intentionally unflattering pics of Pelini in his avatars (twice) and the latest thread, and you've got way too many coincidences for me to believe this guy is for real.

I didn't see the previous one, but the current one I see as only intended to be a funny picture of Bo. I can't think of who, but I think there's at least another regular or something that has a photo or photoshop of angry Bo as his avatar. A few with funny pictures of Beck in their signatures.

Are people going to get in trouble for 'unflattering pictures of coaches' or 'Lawrence Phillips' threads in general? Or is it just the combination of the two that signifies that he's a pretend Husker fan, here to troll, that is the problem?

The latter...I don't see it, but you do have a pretty accurate troll-dar.

 
It's the combination. Like I said, I'm willing to believe in only so many coincidences. That someone would have so many so soon in his membership is too much to believe.

I would advocate watching this guy, not banning or anything yet. I agree that it's premature to axe someone over the "evidence" we have now.
