Does NU have a chance in the B1G West?

Iowa at Wisconsin this week mostly should determine the West. A Wisconsin win basically shuts out most of the competition for the division. An Iowa win puts them in the driver seat, but opens up the chaos window like last year.

This is gonna be a weird game too. There might be more defensive points than offensive points - the past two years, Iowa has gained 146 and 156 yards in this game. Wisconsin has gained 227 and 270. I do think not having the second half of their 1-2 punch will hurt Wisconsin, their passing game is not quite what their fans expected. I'd pretty much bet on Mordecai throwing a pick six (not sure Hill will get a ball close enough to another player to return the favor), but is that enough?

Iowa/Wisconsin fighting for the division is pretty much what everyone expected, but I did expect one of them to look halfway decent and they haven't so far. Just significantly better than the rest of this division.

Well, Iowa prying open the chaos window seems about right. No, McNamara and a O that seems to try to roll up loses took the division lead and Wisky lost their QB.

Honestly, Iowa wins this division at 6-3. The remaining schedule for everyone else is too difficult for them not to get it, despite extreme ineptitude on offense.

The sad part is that the rest of the division is so bad that Iowa could score less than 20 points per game and finish 8-1 in conference play.

I know odds are higher to win the lottery.  But assuming Minnesota gets beat by OSU, Nebraska does control its own destiny and only has to win.  (You know, the hard part…)

Edit: Looks like that’s been mentioned already; oops.

Also, Illinois beating Maryland is a surprise that makes our win look better.

If you think Maryland losing is a surprise, you haven't been paying much attention. They're (still) not a good team, they had a ridiculously easy schedule to start the season. They beat five teams, but those five teams have a combined total of just two wins over FBS opponents this season. Hell, we have more wins over both FBS and P5 opponents than all five of the teams Maryland beat combined!

I think it comes down to O improvement after the bye week and the D’s ability to stop the pass.  We are solid on the run, but have given up yards against the pass…We won’t win one game if it turns into a shootout.
