Dylan Raiola

The slot and TE (Fidone) had pick routes to engage the LBs.  Push and turn in.  It clears space for Banks to run back of end zone.

A well drawn out play that we have seen in football for years.  Raiola threw a beautiful, perfect strike.

Note:  If the LBs drift backward, you have an open man underneath (Fidone).
But, do you want both of them so close together?

They go right where the LBs are.  Pick and turn around.  Leaves Banks one on one.  If the LBs slide backward toward Banks, then Fidone or the slot is an easy open target.  Pick and pop.

Dylan read it perfectly.

Doesn't step into the throw and doesn't get as much on it as needed to be.
He definitely struggles on these.  Back shoulder in the end zone needs to be thrown more like a dart than his “semi fade” passes he throws.  And the receiver needs to not turn until the very last moment too.

Yes.  I'd also like to know what routes Fidone and the other WR right beside him were supposed to be running.  I can't imagine they wanted them all so close together.
Findone was probably correct in order to create the high/low, but the other receiver has to be in the wrong spot.   If I were to venture a guess, he should be hitting an out route as we had no one occupying that space.

Dylan Raiola has been getting a lot of love and attention. Courting the Patrick Mahomes comparison hasn't hurt.

So I'm thinking his subpar game against Rutgers has a big upside. He knows he's not there yet and there's a lot of work he needs to do. I'm not getting the entitled vibe from him, and think he's up to the task.

Top247 rank: No. 7 overall, No. 2 QB

Nebraska went all in on Dylan Raiola this past offseason, and it's paid off. He's thrown for 1,358 yards and nine touchdowns against three interceptions while completing 66.9% of his passes.

Nebraska is 5-1 and on the verge of bowl qualification for the first time since 2016. He's been an offense-changing weapon for a passing attack that's gone from 129th a season ago to 57th this year.
