My email to all of the regents, AD, and Chancellor Perlman:

NU Football - A fan's view from Oklahoma,

Dear....

I am a long term member of the Oklahoma Cornhusker Club here in Tulsa. I’ve been a fan since 1970 – my earliest memories of NU football as a child was our 1st national championship game. I grew up in SD and have endured sooner fans since moving here in 1978. I wanted to express to you that we have an enthusiastic Club here in Oklahoma, however, with each blowout loss, which each temperamental, childish rage displayed by our head coach, with each passing year without so much as a conference championship (even in the weak Big 10), I see the interest not only waning but dramatically falling in our club. For big games, we use to draw 250 fans, now well under 100. I attribute this not to our great leadership at the Club but to the performance on the field and our disappointment that a school with the resources (facility, finances, and emotional) and the very loyal fan base cannot field a better product and provide a better coaching staff for our players. I don’t blame the players. Bo is ultimately responsible for this situation.

Don’t you agree that 7 years is enough to turn around a program to the place of respectability? Even in Oklahoma, where our Big 8 connections give us creditability (and sympathy) with OU and OSU fans, people are asking – “when will you get rid of that coach. He does not represent the Nebraska that we knew very well”. Nationwide, we are known by the angry Bo face as the media zeros in on him. Is that what NU football has fallen too? Is that the picture we want to present as the image of NU? Doesn’t NU deserve better? Isn’t it time to restore NU football to place of respectability and championships?

Thank-you for your consideration.

Blanket response, I think everyone just needs to take five minutes and write them a quick e-mail, flood their inboxes.

Hal actually will respond to you usually. Last season he and I exchanged a few emails. The other reagents however issue a blanket email regardless of what you say

Well I hope the regents truly are 'taking note' as Hal said in his response to me. We'll know more in a few days.

I got a response back that was a little different than that, but it was also about a specific topic.

Feedback from the fans is not taken into consideration nearly as much as we think. The boosters ultimately decide.

If Howard Hawks wants Pelini here, Pelini stays.
Normal fans, maybe not. But season ticket holder, absolutely. I listen to local sports radio occasionally, and throughout the last 7 years, I've never heard more people calling in saying they're not renewing their season tickets. The sellout streak is really all the program has going for it right now. If apathy continues to set in and the streak ends, that's a huge blow to a very proud fan base.

I wasn't here in 07', but have been here for the post-championship debacle, and the post-Iowa mess. Both times there was a heavy dose of Bo supporters working the 9 win, young team, more time, injury arguments to perfection. Supporters have been virtually silent this last couple of weeks. Zoogies is about as close as it gets right now, and he's the only one I can think of. I'm not sure Bo's got a lot of support anywhere at this point. Boosters included.

Kind of a profound statement about the boosters.......anything to back that statement up?

I can assure you that at minimum 2 of the top 5 boosters as well as many others in the suites are ready for Bo to go fwiw

I keep hearing that Hawks flipped about the same time as the rest of us. Bout 3rd quarter of the Wiscy game. And he owns half the sports complex, so....

It's not worth anything to me.

You're level of butt hurt is hilarious at this point, Bo. You're out of a job so just get the family prepped cause its a good drive out to Youngstown.

I've also heard rumblings of unhappy boosters as well who are ticked that 3 of our Wisconsin meetings have been 21+ point losses. Hawks I haven't heard word of but if he's teetering the rest of the regent dominoes will fall as well.

If Pelini were to get let go, there are two things very true.....1) He is not a poor man and 2) If he were to be unemployed, it would be by choice. And "hearing rumblings" is fine. This is the internet.
