First game over....blackshirts?

So the first game is done and in the books. If it was your decision who would you be giving out blackshirts to at this point? I think an obvious one would be Glenn.

This is a team so I can't see handing them out individually, 300+ passing yards does not equal blackshirts.

We don't face a tough O until Missouri now it this point it looks like as VTech looked completely inept for most the game.

Keep and mind the blackshirt is far more than a practice jersey, true blackshirts wear them on their heart. I firmly believe most of the D will earn them by time the season is over. Quit worrying about the freaking things and focus on getting better every day, the rest will take care of itself.

Don't give out blackshirts. As we saw/heard, there's quite a bit of working to do. Those guys on D made some good plays, but they also gave up yardage through the air like it was 2004. Or 2007 >_> And keep in mind, this was just one game...the worst thing they could do now is to think, "Well, we've arrived!" and bust out the champagne and the blackshirts.

They could've done better, and will need to in order to beat VT, or to stop things from going south in conference play. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, etc; don't breakout the blackshirts before the blackshirts are back. After all, it was Western Michigan.

Odd that the students were blacked out, but the players don't technically have them. I found it to be a bit symbolic, it was like the fans are the ones holding on to them until they are deserved. I have to agree with Bennychico, a student b******* is not necessarily a bad thing...not more than one game a year though.

do you guys realize we sat back in a base defense, not blitzing almost the entire 2nd half? we GAVE THEM what they took.. its just like the USC game last year... they gave us what we took at the end of that game. Had the game actually been close, they would have played with more tenacity. We don't want to show all of our different looks when it doesn't matter.. its something that ya know, smart coaches do? especially when you play in such a offensively strong conference. Think about who we have. Mizzou, Tech, OU, KU... why show something against Western Michigan just to shut them down for the 2nd half? Seriously... the 1st quarter we held WMU to -7 total yards. Honestly. When did we do that last year? Maybe you guys didn't see the same thing or just feel we should be showing everything we have because we have something to prove, but these guys def. played like they deserve it.

 
well one thing about bo though, is he won't run the score on teams intentionally, I agree with you, our defense in the 2nd half was lack luster because the play calling for defense was stagnant. More about getting the new guys on defense play time to figure things out under the lights rather than stats or playing to be the most effective.

 
They should not be given out. There are a couple folks who are on the way to re-earning that honor, but not after the performance.

If anything, they should be given out before either the Va Tech or Mizzou game. That would get them fired up.
