Team HuskerBoard
Eric & I have been in touch with Hawsker, in an attempt to get him to begin using a Huskerboard tag in his videos, obviously for promotional purposes.
Well he expressed some concern, saying he didnt want to "risk getting in trouble", along the lines of copyright infringment. which is a valid concern, but what he was really getting at was that he wanted us to begin paying him for the videos. yeah. $200 each in fact. so you can imagine what my reponse was.
I bascially told him it wasnt even close to feasible, and that he would run the risk of copyright issues whether he uses our tag or not. He came around in the end, and kinda apologized for "seeming like a greedy ahole" etc. and was real contrite about it. long story short, hes going to begin using our logo, and Im going to give him some apparel & game videos, and a reference for his resume - which I htink is more than fair for now.
I also suggested that he puts some type of disclaimer at the front and/or end of them to mitigate the risks of copy infringe, so he'd like us to suggest something to use.
Heres what comes to my mind, but wanted to get your input:
"The following is for entertainment use only, and not intended for commercial purposes. If you are the copyright owner of a segment and would like your video removed, plese contact "hawkser@hawkser.com" and it will be promptly removed."
I told him something like that would pretty much alleviate most all risk of ever being sued, b/c the most that would happen in the Youtube age (sans defamation) would be to get a cease/desist letter, and as long as you comply no action would be taken.
Frank, your thoughts?
