And that's what the hand gun is for, yes? As you said before, it'll stop a hog (or bear), and the rounds are cheaper than your AR.

Just imagine hunting wild boar back in the Middle Ages. Instead of a standoff weapon, you've got a sharp stick, or a pike, or bow. That's not an animal I'd want furious with me with one of those weapons in hand.

Even harder to imagine that neolithic humans managed to hunt giant bear, saber-tooth tigers, mammoths and mastodons to extinction by getting close enough to stab them,

Handgun is very handy in brush. If I need to take an up close follow up shot to finish a wounded or charging animal that would be my preferred gun more than likely. A rifle being longer makes them less maneuverable in dense brush/close distances. And my rifles all have slings so they are free floating/hands free. Also useful if you have a jam/malfunction. But yes. Miss me with that. A lot of guys hunt hogs with spears and drop them from an above tree or on foot.  Some guys even do dog guided knife hunts. Seems a bit savage to me and dangerous for that matter.

Same energy as the people who strap AR-15's onto all of their bridesmaids/groomsmen, because nothing signifies marriage, health, and a lasting relationship like enough weapons to take on a small militia.
