Hawkeyes/Huskers

Dear Husker fans,

These Hawkeyes come in peace. They are welcoming us to their conference and already looking forward to visiting Memorial. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to immediately engage in a pissing contest with them about wins/tradition/etc. It will eventually be settled on the field, but for now, let's not earn a bad reputation to start off a new era of Husker football.

Love,

GB

Amen. Let's not start fights that don't exist. Husker fans, if you have an issue with some Hawkeye fans, just remember that your beef isn't with THESE Hawkeye fans.

Let's treat everyone with the respect we're being shown by our new Big 10 brethren. These guys, from several different teams, have come over here and been aces. There's no reason we can't do the same. :thumbs

I can already see for Nebraska better rivalries than anything before. Nebraska and Iowa should be a good one to develop. Call it the Corn Bowl? lol.

Iowa fan here, just wanting to say hello and welcome to the Big Ten.

I won't be the first to admit that Iowa's football history - while plenty rich - still pales in comparison to Nebraska's accomplishments. While Iowa has been very good for 30 years, NU has been dominant, more often than not, for 50. NU has more double-digit win seasons in one decade (8 in the 1980s) than Iowa has had in its entire history (7) - and UI hasn't even gotten its first until 1985.

That said, Nebraska comes to the Big Ten with a clean slate. Yes, the Big 8 and Big 12 titles are impressive, but in the Big 10 reputation alone won't be enough to earn your keep, you'll need to prove it on the field. And I know you'll do just that. I'm looking forward to a GREAT series with you guys - shoot, Wisconsin could prove a worthy adversary for the 'Skers as well.

We might not be OU, but then again, we ain't Colorado either. Again, here's to a fantastic (and hopefully respectful) rivalry. :cheers

i'm pretty excited for this rivalry to start. it will be good one, and should be a respectful one. it has been a while since NU had a real rivalry, and since neither team has a rivalry, it will be a perfect fit.

1st off let me say welcome to the Huskers. As a lifelong Hawkeye I have wanted to see this football game yearly-I believe it can turn in to an amazing rivaly. Growing up in the 80's and 90's it was easy to hate the Huskers. Never liked the football team (nobody likes the team that wins all the time right?) but always admired Coach Osborne. A quality man who is all class. The other thing I always was amazed by was watching Nebraska on TV--the stadium and every single person there in red or white for EVERY game. Looked like a football atmosphere like no other.

So-to my point. What can I expect to pay for a ticket to this game in Nebraska? I don't even want to guess. I always said I wanted to see at least one game in Memorial Stadium before I died and now it looks like I have a great reason to do it (NO I never considered going to watch Iowa State-NU). Can't wait to tailgate at Memorial and watch this great series unfold. Welcome again and GO HAWKS
Agreed. Fans of both teams have been waiting generations for this game to be played annually. I would be shocked if it isn't the two teams regular season finale.

Your money will know no prejudice from me when I (very rarely) am selling tickets.

Pretty sure husker hounds will sell tickets to anyone.
