Hey guys,

Just started reconfiging an old puter to run. My freakin 9mo old hot sh?t computer chipset fan took a dump. It is an nvidia chipset on a DFI LanParty UT Ultra-D m/b. Nobody I can find local has this fan. It is about the size of a quarter with three arms to mount in with screws into the m/b. Anyone know of a source for these parts? I have contacted Newegg but no joy yet.

Rick

Sept 16 yeah baby

I'll look around, but if you aren't over clocking and have good airflow it shouldn't get that hot.

Check out www.dfi-street.com. I remember reading many a thread about crapped out chipset fans.

Not entirely sure it's compatible - I always take claims of "universal compatibility" with a grain of salt, but check out THIS LINK. The reviews indicate it's loud at highest speeds (there are three speeds) but apparently the lowest speed does the trick for cooling. At least one reviewer installed it on an nVidia chipset with no problems, although he didn't say what the mobo brand was...

Thanks guys,

I just received an email from Newegg. I have to ship the whole m/b and peripherals back for warranty they won't just send a new fan. It is a low profile fan and heatsink and my video card 7800gtx fits right across it so nothing deeper than it will work. Damn this old computer sux. Gonna ship the m/b off this afternoon if all goes well at work. It might have been better to just buy a new m/b. oh well.
