It's interesting that the Mizzou game is referenced so much in defense of Helu.

His three 60+ yard runs literally nobody ever touched him. Part of that is due to him being fast, but more of it is due to the offensive line opening up some canyons for him. I just watched every carry he had through the first 3 quarters and there was one legitimate broken tackle or play where he made someone miss.

Burkhead, on the other hand, made plays like these seem regular and normal:

Of note, in defense of Helu, that Missouri game featured a Husker record for single-game rushing yardage, and he got the last 20-30 yards of it against stacked fronts because Mizzou knew we were feeding him for the record.  He fought through some tackles for those yards.

There are more examples, but that's just off the top of my head.  Still, I voted for Rex & I'm comfortable with that.

This was difficult. I went wt sexy rexy.  Because - he wasn't a sexy runner - he was all determination and fight.  A bull dog.  Helu was amazing as well.  We also can't forget the injuries Rex fought through and basically curtailed his senior year.

I vote Rex.  Rex was the junkyard dog as advertised.  Got extra yards where there were none.  Not the homerun threat Helu was but Rex hit a lot of singles and doubles and kept drives moving.  Every team is better with a Rex.  Consistently solid.
