Am I the only one who thinks the video should be more about obesity than the bullying?

I feel as though the reporter makes it sound as though its OK to be overweight or obese. Even though obesity is an epidemic in this country costing tons of $$$$$ in added healthcare costs.

It is ok to be obese or overweight...because we don't know WHY she is. She could have a disorder of some kind or could be taking cortisosteroids or on another medication that makes her retain her weight.

The bottom line is, we don't know the reasons.

I can tell you this...when I look at newscasters, they're not 'an example' of what I want to be. So that dude that wrote that letter is a tool bag if he thinks girls are looking at newscasters as examples of what they want to be.

I think that it was a very unprofessional move on her part. Working in the industry, you have to expect to receive stuff like that. That was an incredibly tame email, I've seen a helluva lot worse come through at our station, quite regularly. By even acknowledging the email, it gives credence to the emailer. If she knows she's obese, and willingly works in front of a camera, she's got to get incredibly thicker skin. You can't use your position as a soapbox to get back at your naysayers... You've got to make it to the big boys before you can do that.
