I don’t think you can. But if you disagree with someone just tell them about it in the thread. Point out how stupid their post is. Isn’t that part of the point of a message board?

Look to the top left hand corner of the screen, to the right of member tools. Go to Manage Ignored Users. Enter the name of the member you want to block, and click the box on "ignore posts." Should be good to go.
For the Avatar, in your User Preferences under the “Forums” tab (next to “Settings”) you can uncheck “View members' avatars when reading topics?” That should do it.
Also, it turns out there is a way to Ignore users. I just had never used it.
