How do we try and spread the carries: Our spring RB ?'s

Beck's first year they tried to incorporate some of GaTechs offense a little bit. With these backs, you could actually have a decent set up if you had Cross play as the "fullback" but he needs to run with his pad level down better

@NateClouse: .@MikelSevere Have been impressed with Adam Taylor's hands too. That's the one thing you never really got to see him do in high school.

Newby took a short pass from Stanton 80 yards to the house today.

Coaches trying to find different ways to get Newby the ball. Obviously AA will get the bulk of the carries but they seem to be trying to get Newby on the field.

Running back Imani Cross: He looks like the No. 2 back and he has all spring. And Terrell Newby, at least right now, is more of a guy you'd build a package around than Adam Taylor. Taylor perhaps has the broadest skill set, the most upside. But Cross is seeing holes better right now, and Newby hits a hole faster than any back on the team.

Newby needs to continue working on recognizing the creases, something Ameer and Cross do well. He did look pretty good in the return game.

I'm sure he's a victim of his own athleticism. He's always been such a great athlete that he could simply outrun everyone. But I was very impressed at how tough he ran last year. He sounds like he's progressing nicely.

FIVE STOCK RISERS
Imani Cross: To many fans, this was supposed to be the spring of Adam Taylor. Everyone loves the new guy. And without question, the redshirt freshman has plenty of upside, revealed in spurts here and there. But it was the junior Cross who consistently seemed to be on a mission, ripping off impressive touchdown runs in scrimmages, including six carries for 100 yards in the Spring Game. In a scrimmage the previous week, he had one of the better runs of the spring, bouncing off about five defenders before scoring a touchdown from about 10 yards. He seems to have found comfort bumping his weight back up to 230 pounds, not losing a step in the process and showing the best awareness finding holes of any running back not named Ameer Abdullah.
