How, or does, NU respond to PSU scandal?

I'm of two minds. I remember Osborne always waiting for the results of investigations before taking action toward a miscreant, so, I guess Paterno deserves at least that much. I hope against hope there is some mitigating fact for him.

Got to say though that I'm SO DAD GUMMED sad to learn that he took no action when he should have been taking his graduate assistant straight to the police the instant he heard. So sad.

It's not an issue that NU should comment on or have anything to do with because it's not any of NU's business. If fans don't feel safe going to the game, then don't go - that's totally up to them.

 
Why can't people just do the right thing. In Joes shoes I would have immediately got Sandusky into my office and found out what he was doing. If he doesn't explain himself to my liking I'd have had him escorted out of the facility and banned him from coming back. Next stop the AD's office and then the authorities. Do that and this scandal never happens.

Honestly, I'd like to see a gesture of sportsmanship from our players and coaches Saturday because I feel for the players at Penn State. This is the last home game for their seniors and instead of this week being about football and their last game at Beaver Stadium, they have to deal with this. We're talking about young men that had absolutely nothing to do with that schmuck, Sandusky...why should they have to suffer? Come Saturday, I'd like to see our guys shaking hands with their guys before the game or at least some gesture of class, from human beings to human beings, letting them know that we feel for them and what is going on, because what's going on at their campus is bigger than the game of football.

Yep. Great post. I think I agree that it isn't Nebraska's place to comment, but it is Nebraska's place to make sure this is going to be a safe environment to play the game. I'd have to think that the posters who said this will be a quiet, subdued, maybe not filled stadium could be right, which is unfair to the players, but I do think there could be problems at the stadium. I would be stunned if there wasn't an extra police presence at the game.

I don't think we need to make any statement....that being said, "bulletin board material" is so overrated. How did that, "wind stopped Dennard Robinson" bulletin board material work out.

 
You know JoePa was a figurehead for the past two or three years. I didn't much care about Nebraska responds but I'm VERY curious about PSU fans attending at Beaver stadium. Almost sure ABC will now nationwide coverage instead of ESPN......... or probably both

 
Does Joe Paterno still lead Penn State out onto the field on gameday?......if he does, and if he's still around on Saturday, I wonder how the crowd will react....

How do you know he didn't do exactly that, and Sandusky explained himself to Paterno's liking? Perhaps Paterno gave his friend of 20-30 years the benefit of the doubt. Except, IIRC from all of my reading, this wasn't the first time Paterno had caught wind of something like this. Like someone said in another post, I think Paterno didn't want to confront his friend. (None of this means I think how Paterno acted is okay. I just don't think having Sandusky 'explain' was enough if that indeed happened).

This isn't our fight- just play the game and take the high road. No stupid-shirts, banners, posters. I don't understant that is even a dilemma

No no, we should definitely do something about this. I heard that this will put our sell-out streak in jeopardy.

 
From reading some of the Penn State boards it appears they are going to be there in force to show support for the players. I would expect nothing less, you have to feel for the players who are being brought into this whole mess. They had nothing to do with it so it would only be right for the fans to support the players. How they feel about the coaches and administration is a whole other thing.

 
And whatever you do don't bring a copy of Sandusky's book to be autographed.

It isn't krc...and you're right...I would be shocked if Husker fans or the school did anything to antagonize an already horrendous situation...no way that happens. But NU still has an obligation to its players and staff. There will be a volatile, circus-like atmosphere at the game. Not sure this affects the game itself, but all the sudden the national media is all over this, and it will be a weird, hopefully safe, environment Sat.
