You knew it was bound to happen, you just kind of wished it would have been against a better opponent. Missouri, a team that should have lost to Middle Tennessee St and lost to Kansas, hung tight and pulled off a huge fourth quarter. It’s tough to look at. Huskers were sitting pretty and so was I. You’ve got to figure with our defense we hold them. But when the offense can’t move the ball and leaves the opposition with short fields to work with, they can’t hold them.
Four fumbles and an interception. The one that probably pisses me off the most is Davis on the 4 trying to catch a punt. What the f#*k, plain and simple. You also got to think that Missouri was due for a big game on offense, yeah some of their points came off of trick plays, but that’s football, they didn’t cheat, they had to do this if they were going to win and they did. All game long they ran play action passes to keep the Blackshirt defense off balance. Good game plan. Nebraska has no one to blame, but themselves and their poor play. Remember 5 turnovers. Just a disappointing game. We couldn’t handle the crowd either.
Nebraska is now ranked 14th in the coaches poll and to be honest that’s a gift. I’d think we would be around #20. Wait till the AP comes out. All of our previous opponents with the exception of Okie St., which is showing its true colors beating up on the Barnies Saturday, lost. This says we are not as good as we think. For this season to be a success we must beat someone were not supposed to. Texas, K-St, Colorado. All these teams I believe to be as good or better than NU. I really do.
A look around the Big 12 and Oklahoma is just amazing. You may not want to hear this, but if Oklahoma can keep this up, they will be pushing the ’95 Huskers for greatest all-time team. Criticize all you want they are getting the job done on all phases of the game. Miami may have a shot, but that’s it. Va Tech, a much overrated team as it is mainly because of the Big least conference, will get destroyed by OKLAHOMA. They just beat up on the #11 team in the land. And kicked the sh#t out of them.
In the same boat with Nebraska and the “it was bound to happen” department, Ohio St. finally lost. Miami easily beat Florida St. And the rest really doesn’t matter because nobody will beat Oklahoma, although the final game of the year against Okie St. Will be interesting.
The next game versus A&M will be very important. If we fall look for another 7-7 year or something like that. Although I do believe the Huskers are much better this year. Nebraska will win in its typical fashion, running and throwing two or three long pass plays to win it. NU 23 A&M 14
Folks we lost to a team that was ready and didn’t fold. Nebraska did. But hey look who else lost…f'ing’ Kansas St (4-3)., It makes things a little easier.
