Team HuskerBoard
What a waste…what a f'ing’ waste. Perfect opportunity to make a statement. Arkansas man-handled them, Oklahoma took them to the woodshed and NU got their a$$ beat in. Barney Cotton is going to get the blame for this one. I wonder if he even had a game plan. Oh wait he did………….run on the perimeter where Texas can use their speed?!?!? Real f'ing’ genius.

We have got to realize that teams no matter what they are ranked against the rush are going to put 9 and 10 guys in the box. NEWS BULLETIN: We are not in the year 1995, we do not have the athletes nor the muscle to run through people. Cotton did not adjust his game plan and it appeared was still trying to establish the run game with FB dives in the middle of the fourth quarter. Lord did complete a few passes and I think if he was able to get into a rhythm, might have done better. Oh what the f#*k do I know!!!!! I hate trying to make excuses.

The defense was caught on its heels for most of the fourth but still did not break. Ruud’s missed interception in the first hurt a lot. Defense let up a ton of yards in the first half and NU was still only down by two scores. Four turnovers and not a one converted into a score. That sucks. Defense did the best they could. It’s f'ing’ Cotton’s fault.

The rest of the season feels scary. With a freshman QB starting for KU we should have enough to win in Lawrence (I hope). KSt and CU could be tough. Lucky we get the Barnies at home. Big 12 Championship Game should be considered a huge accomplishment.

Folks needless to say we need to recruit some top notch speed and athleticism. Or the Texas’ and Oklahoma’s are going to roll right on by. Like I said we should be all right for KU, although you never know. NU in a fairly close one…..NU24 KU14

Keep the faith

PS: Oklahoma keeps this up and they will be talked about in the same breath as the ’95 Huskers.

After attending the offensive funeral in Austin on Saturday, disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. The offense was completely pathetic and I couldn't help but wonder how many times in a row the same three plays would be called to go three and out with Lord being sacked for a 10 yard loss. The play calling sucked, the offensive line sucked and I heard a quote from a good friend about Judd Davies that is poetic. "When Judd goes out in the sun he doesn't have a shadow because he can't even block sunlight". How true is that? We have a mediocre running back, an abominable full back and we only pass 10 times a game. What the hell is Barney thinking? K-State and Colorado are going to bury us if we can't come up with a better freaking game plan than that.

To add insult to injury, a Texass fan, in true a-hole form, taunted us on the way out of the stadium saying that it "was like taking candy from a baby". For those of us who have to live down here with all of those miserable freaks, it is going to be a damn long three years until we meet them again. I can only hope that improved recruiting and continued work by the coaching staff will make a difference between now and then.

On another note, we heard Husker fans discussing another Lincoln coaching change for next year, with Solich being axed and none other than Mike Stoops of Oklahoma replacing him. Sounded like complete ignorance to me but I then heard the same damn thing last night from someone who lives in Norman. The buzz in Norman is also that brother Stoops is heading north to Huskerville. Is it possible that NU would not only axe Solich but replace him with a traitor from our biggest rival? I have to say that it wouldn't be the best decision to hire Stoops. First of all, most OU fans dislike him and feel that the co-defensive coordinator is the true architect of their incredible D. Second, we already have an outstanding defensive mind in Bo so why a defensive coach rather than a new offensive genius? Without the possiblity of moving into a greater position, we will not keep Pelini more than three years.

On to Kansas, if we can't beat Kansas we need to hang up the cleats and forfeit the rest of the damn season. I just don't see that happening. The 34 year streak will improve to 35 and Nebraska will have a big day on the rebound from last weeks shalacking. NU 40, KU 17

Never say die and GO BIG RED!

I am very pissed about the game. I wanted to know where the f#*k was Barney Cotton. All I have heard is how he would pass more and mix it up more. I thought Texas would have been a great time to unveil some new plays. However I have calmed down and my upbringing as a cubs fan has taken over.

I want to believe that the team will be great next year. Lord is what he is. I did not expect to win this game at the beginning of the year. I did not expect an embarassment, but I did not expect to win. I am suspending judgement on the new coaching staff and Solich for another coupleof years. I want to see Dailey in a more active role, or someone who can complete short passes. I think this will return the Huskers to their elite status. I feel that recruiting with these new coaches will really pick up. Firing Solich is not the answer. I do not think it is his fault. Things really fell apart last year, and we can not fix it over night. It will take time, and I think it will be sooner than later, especially with the Blackshirts improvement where it is.

This is still a young team, they are still learning and next year there will be a much better/smarter quarterback running the show.

We get back to winning this week

NU 42 KU 17

I really have to agree with nepolo7, I really expected to see some new plays or some wrinkles with the passing game. If were going to play with this many mistakes, doesn't it just make sence to put in the younger guys??

Looked at recruiting on huskerboard and it appears were in on some key players. I looked at Rivals the other day and clicked on all purpose running backs. And Nebraska was in a number of top fives for many of those players. I think we ned two of these running backs.

I disagree with Eric on the point that its all Cotton's fault. He isn't playing. But I also don't believe the players gave up. They played against a great football team. Nebraska needs a few years to rebuild. Hey if Nebraska loses again the odds of Pelini leaving go down. I'm trying folks, I really am. Keep Believing ;)

Very disappointing of course. But was it all that surprising? Yes we are better than last year, but have we truly exorcised our road demons? I dont think SoMiss counts.

Seriously, we have to accept the fact, albeit a scary one that I dont think many people like to discuss, but we f'ing suck goat **** on the road. Bottom line. And we have for the past 3 seasons. Im not bullshiting. Look at our past schedules. The last credible big game road win was Notre Dame in 2000, and based on their peformance in the past few years even that win was suspect. Yes we beat A&M last year, but look at their program now - they are basically the same team. Yes we beat weak teams on the road like ISU and Baylor and Tech, but again, not worth the sh#t on the toilet paper Texas used to wipe our asses with before they put us to bed. Now look at our losses. Frightening.

After we beat ND in '00, we lost at OU & KSU. In '01 we had no significant road wins, and we all know how we finished the trainwreck of a season, at CU 62-36 and at the Rose scented Shitter bowl v. Miami 37-14. Then in '02 we lost every road game except A&M, which again was obviously an aberration, displayed by our performances in Manhattan and Shreveport.

Where the f#*k am I going with this? Not just the fact we plain and simply suck on the road, but I think the root of all this is truly our talent level. It hasnt been the same since TO and we are still feeling the aftershocks.

Bottom line the crowd in Huskerville wills the Skers to victories. When we get down on the road, we dont have the offensive superstars to take over the game, and put the team on their shoulders and drag us to a W. We havent had a player on offense that could dominate the game since of course Crouch, and then Ahman Green, Lojack Phillips and Frazier.

Our current running backs are not big enough to pound it up the gut and break tackles when the other teams stack the box, which they have obviously learned is the decoder ring to pulling our card. Real tough code to crack I know. J Davis and Horne are talented, but not playmakers. Period. Lord's lack of throwing makes us 1 dimensional and predictable, and his passing deficiencies are only compounded by putting him in 3rd and longs that most good QBs couldnt get out of.

And no you cant pin the TX loss on Lord. We finally got what we were asking for guys... Lord didnt LOSE the game for us. Didnt make any HUGE f#*k ups. Yes he missed several pass routes, and didnt get rid of the ball instead of taking 20 yd losses, but he didnt lose his head either. And he was on the scramble all day. Zero pass protection. Our O Line is very sketchy. I think he rememberd last years TX game, and is tired of being the goat. He has finally said "you got what you wanted, now lets see you win the game without me." And we just dont have the depth and talent to do that. Unfortunately we need Lord to take those high risk / big reward type of chances . Without those gamebreakers, the other defenses are not going to be fooled. And our O line and lack of a fullback arent big or talented enuf to dominate games like our '95 Red Line.

By the way, if I have an excuse of the week for the Texas massacre, it would be the heat. It was HOT as POO on blacktop down there. VERY humid. And I really dont think we were conditioned for it. Not an excuse, just a fact. And certainly not an acceptable one. But when you are out of that humidity for several weeks, and then are faced with it all at once, you will have some drop off of energy. Remember that first day of summer camp in the humidity. You were drained. And that is exactly how it appeared. Our guys were getting blow off the line, almost every play! And we just dont have the depth to counter that type of fall off.

f'ing hilarious quote by the way about Judd Davies. Id really be interested to see if that theory about his shadow is actually true. If he does see his shadow though he'll probably run and hide his b!^@h a$$ back in his hole for another 3 months.

Thats all I got. Hopefully the Skers got some more this weekend. Certainly a huge game. I look for KU to get out on top early, b/c of our let down from last week and looking fwd to next. Plus KU fans will be jacked b/c of the national TV, and they have nothing to lose, except #36. Look for us to actually regroup this week at halftime and come out wrecking f'ers.
