HQW Week-3

Team HuskerBoard
As I sit and listen to Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall,” I sit and think about Nebraska’s season up to this point. Would anyone out there really mind if Nebraska won every game the same way, like the repetitious look of every brick in a wall? Running the ball, stellar, tough, aggressive, turnover-minded defense and a few clutch field goals. A “W” is a “W.” I know the QB, but before you get your panties wrinkled, look at the numbers…they don’t lie:

Nebraska 3-0…

Nebraska #15 in the country…

Nebraska #1 in team defense…

Nebraska #3 in rushing in the nation…

Nebraska dominating in Time of Possession…

Nebraska dominating in total yardage

Nebraska +4 turnovers…

Nebraska #1 fans in the country.

The point is are we better than we were last year?? YES… Are we moving in the right direction?? YES…Are we at least moving the ball?? YES…Are we getting better looks from recruits?? YES…Is Nebraska football fun and exciting again?? YES…Are we winning?? The answer again, YES.

I told you it was going to be this way. We will need the defense for another game or two or three. There will be one game in the near future where the Offense will break out with a 21 point first quarter. Could be this week, if not Missouri.

I’m not going to dwell on the PSU game. It was fun, loud and we Nebraska fans have received high marks from all over the country for their behavior and sportsmanship. You’ve read it all, we’ll move on.

I have been looking a lot into recruiting lately. It is an absolute joy to read what I’m seeing. For the last couple of years, recruiting has slipped. We have heard the grand story about how Nebraska doesn’t pay any attention to recruiting services because they recruit the areas they need so well and always manage to find that hidden gem or sometimes I should say a bag full. But I think that type of recruiting is over with. For the last couple of years I have had to watch Oklahoma, Florida, Miami, Michigan etc., capturing all the top athletes. Getting all those five star and 6.0 athletes that the other schools are after. But now…..NOW I see Nebraska in the running for those rivals top100 athletes. For a while Nebraska was in the running for supposed #1 RB recruit in the nation. A kid out of Texas. I think he has moved A&M and Texas to #1 and #2, and Nebraska at the end of his top five, but still it was nice to see Nebraska in the running. I looked at a few more recruits, just sporadically. Nebraska is attempting to get that New Jersey connection back. A few of Jersey’s top players have Nebraska in there top 5. There is a national top 15 running back out of North Carolina who considers NU #1 and word is that he is ready to commit any day.

My point in going on about this is that for the last couple of years all those others schools seemed to think those recruiting services were correct or at least ball-parked the athlete. The other schools targeted them. Why weren’t we? I think the NU coaches got caught up in what everyone else thought of their recruiting techniques. That and the coaches were too damn old. I also believe that these recruiting services are just getting better.

Folks I’ll report back in before the So. Miss game. We are on the right track.

Keep the faith

P.S. f#*k K-State and the purple Dinosaur pig sh#t rode in on.

I like that every team ahead of us seems to be choking on some big pushover team. Way to go K state, Texas, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Michigan. This was the best college football weekend that I did not watch the huskers ever.
