That's my bad. His username is why I flagged him as a spammer. He says he's not here to promote his site, but then he puts it in his username. If he wants to change his name to something generic, I have no problem letting him back on the site.

This is another in a series of drive-by Moderating that I've done over the past couple of weeks. I've suspended and given warnings to some people without alerting you guys, and I have to apologize. Typically this is happening in the evenings when I have a few minutes to glance at the site, see a dumpster fire going on, and fix the mess in the short time I have. I haven't been taking the time to post about it here, which leaves you guys in the dark when the person complains, and for that I apologize

 
Looking at the guy's email and the site, I don't think he's a threat to Huskerboard... I could go either way on the name. Don't think it matters much.

The main issue I have with allowing his username is, if we allow his than we're going to have more and more people signing up using their websites as usernames, and we'll have to police every one of them. I think it's a bad idea to set the precedent.

This isn't a big deal knapp. There's so much stuff to do it isn't reasonable to post up every little action taken. If something comes up then the user will raise the point like here and we can get it resolved. It seems we're in agreement that he isn't a problem but the username is?

I'm with Lance on this - if we don't stop it, we'll have to patrol every username. Just let him know that while we appreciate that he's not here to promote his site, he needs to change the username or we'll be having to patrol all user names to prevent a lot of people from creating names that promote sites that conflict with Huskerboard. I'm going to add that to the Rules, by the way.

 
I've replied to his email, and explained why we flagged his account. I've suggested he agree to a name change, such as hsgrind - just drop the "dotcom". We'll see how he responds.
