Her mom was my high school Spanish teacher. Haha just found out she was going to play for the Huskers. Basically watched her grow up.

Holman, who earned first-team All-American honors in 2014, confirmed to The World-Herald Thursday night she would be transferring to Nebraska from LSU, ending several weeks of speculation and giving Nebraska a huge recruiting victory over defending national champion Penn State, Holman’s other main suitor.

"This has been like a month-long process so it’s been very hard,” Holman said in a telephone interview. "Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. I’m so excited for the future and what Nebraska has to offer."

The 6-foot-1 Holman, a two-time All-SEC pick, led the Tigers last season in kills (3.94 kills per set) and blocks (1.47 bps) while hitting .383, leading LSU to a 20-9 record. In her final match as a Tiger, she had 19 kills in LSU's loss to Oregon in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

It isn’t immediately known when Holman will be eligible to play as a Husker. She said she is making the trip to Lincoln this weekend to begin classes when NU’s spring semester starts Monday. However, Holman has not yet received a release from her scholarship at LSU, a situation she said was “an ongoing process.” If LSU withholds a release, Holman would have to sit out the 2015 season and have two years of eligibility left starting in 2016.

Here's a quick run-down on the 2015 class from Huskers.com. Lots of talent here.

Mikaela Foecke, 6-3, MB/OH, Fort Madison, Iowa (Holy Trinity Catholic)
Mikaela Foecke (pronounced FECK-ee) will join the Huskers from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Fort Madison, Iowa. Foecke was one of the country's most highly touted recruits, rated the No. 2 prospect according to PrepVolleyball.com. Foecke earned MaxPreps 2013 Junior Volleyball Player of the Year honors after averaging more than six kills per set as a junior and leading Holy Trinity to a 45-6 record and the Iowa Class 1A state championship match.

Kenzie Maloney, 5-8, DS/L, Louisville, Ky. (Assumption)
Kenzie Maloney joins the Huskers as a defensive specialist/libero from Assumption High School in Louisville, Ky. Maloney was named an Under Armour Second-Team All-American last week, as well as the Kentucky Seventh Region Player of the Year this season. She is rated as the top libero by PrepVolleyball.com and the No. 24 overall prospect. Along with Foecke, Malone was a starter on the U.S. Youth National Team that won a silver medal in the Youth World Championships in 2013.

Tiani Reeves, 6-1, MB/OH, Gothenburg, Neb. (Gothenburg)
Tiani Reeves joins the Huskers from Gothenburg High School in central Nebraska. Reeves was named an Under Armour Third-Team All-American last week. As a junior, the 6-1 middle blocker/outside hitter amassed 369 kills and hit .350 for the Swedes and was a Lincoln Journal Star first-team Super-State pick. She helped Gothenburg finish 27-5 last season and displayed one of the best reaches in Nebraska high school volleyball history.

Brooke Smith, 5-10, S, Weatherford, Texas (Azle)
Brooke Smith joins the Huskers from Azle High School in Weatherford, Texas. Smith is the lone setter in the Huskers' 2015 class. She will provide depth behind Kelly Hunter, the only other setter on the Huskers' roster for next season. Smith led Azle High to a 20-16 record in 2013 and helped her Tejas Volleyball club reach the Junior Olympics this summer.

An article on Foecke from the Des Moines Register:

Q: Your future collegiate coach at Nebraska, John Cook, has praised you as a 'small-town Iowa kid.' No matter what happens in the future—Olympics, pro volleyball, etc.—will you always be that small town kid?

A: They say most people want to leave small town Iowa, but I love it. My dream is to come back here and live and stay. I love this community and I love the people. It's something I'll always carry with me. Right up until the time I come back.

I am a bit confused, when is signing day for volleyball? Did Strivrins not sign with NU?

---edit---

NVM, I see now that she is a 2016 class target. I really should pay more attention.

I was unaware that 2016 Neb. volleyball recruit Molly Haggerty officially decommited. In any event, she has commited to Wisconsin. Saw it coming after the middle sister transferred.

Jeff Sheldon

Former #HuskerVBall commit and sister of NU middle Meghan Haggerty pledges to Wisconsin. A top '16 outside hitter.

Jeff Sheldon added,

Jonathan Burke @jonathanburke77 Congrats to @haggerty_molly for committing to the University of Wisconsin!
