Huskerboard Email Addresses????

Okay, you're all set up. To access your email, go to https://mail.rapidemail.net. Your login name is your screen name followed by @huskerboard.com. So, for example, BRI's login name is bigrediowan@huskerboard.com.

I will send each of you your temp password via PM. Once you log in, be sure and change it.

Once you have logged in, I recommend you change your email address here on the board to this new account. If you have trouble with it, just let me know an I'll take care of it for you.

FORWARDING - You may or may not want forwarding. Lance and Alex, Dave set your accounts up to forward to your current accounts. Everyone else, no forwarding has been set on your new accounts. How you handle forwarding is up to you, and may depend on how you access email. To set forwarding, click the Preferences tab at the top of the page. The, on the left hand side, click Mail. The neat thing about forwarding FROM your @Huskerboard.com account to your current email account is that you can elect to leave the email on both - or you can elect to just use your @Huskerboard.com account as a pass-through. If you elect to forward to your current email account, I recommend keeping the email on the @Huskerboard.com server - that way, you can log in and reply and the person receiving your reply will see your Huskerboard.com address rather than your person address. Anyway, here are some options:

1. No forwarding. If you access your email through a desktop, you may just want to skip forwarding and simply open a tab for your @Huskerboard.com account.

2. Forward your @Huskerboard.com account to your current email account. Again, I recommend you keep the emails on your Huskerboard account as well - that will mean that an email will appear in both accounts.

3. Forward your current email to your Huskerboard.com account. In other words, you make the Huskerboard.com account your single point to check all your emails. This requires your current email client/provider to have the ability to automatically forward emails, but most have that.

I'm going to check with Dave to see if there is a mobile app for the accounts, and will let you know. Thanks!

Done and done. Impressive (or something) that I already had junk email in my new Huskerboard account.

Thanks for getting that set up.

Guys, there's a problem with Trevor's email. Got this on Facebook a bit ago:

Quote

Hey, I went to change my e-mail address on huskerboard.com and it said it would send a validation e-mail and it hasn't done that. Now I can't respond to anything or even see the mod forum? I've checked both of my e-mail addresses and nothing is coming through. See if someone can help me out over there.

If you check the member list by most-recently joined you find a LOT of people who never get their validation email. We need to figure out a way to fix this problem.

I fixed up Trevor. I suspect that the validation email arises from the Barracuda problem. I'm hopeful that when Chad or Joe submit the info needed, that will resolve it.

Thanks for getting me going again Frank, just about freaked out!

I sent the message below via the Mods distribution list, but in the event someone didn't receive it...

Just discovered one glitch, guys. Huskerboard is listed as “Poor” on the Barracuda rating program. That’s a filter a LOT of businesses use to screen access to Internet sites. That’s why some of our members can’t access Huskerboard from work.
However, it also is having another effect. Namely, notifications from Huskerboard (those emails that tell you when there has been a post to a topic you are following or that you posted in, or that a report has been made) are also blocked by some ISPs because of Barracuda. I’ve contacted Chad and Joe to ask that one of them submit a request form to Barracuda to have that changed. However, until it happens, some of you may not receive notifications.
As I mentioned above, this is also probably the reason some people trying to register for the board don't get the Validation email. I know my ISP, Comcast, uses Barracuda, for example. Trevor, what ISP do you have for your email?

CenturyLink, used to be Qwest.

Chad submitted the removal request today. We should know in about 24 hours - I'll be able to tell because I'll start receiving the notifications again. By the way, have any of you that set your board email address to your Huskerboard.com account been receiving the notifications at that account?

EDIT: Just received my first notification, so I'm thinking Chad's request worked.

So I should be safe to change my email account here to knapplc@huskerboard, yes?

EDIT - it worked. I hate that it logs you out when you change your email. That's a bit scary if something glitches, like Trevor had happen. But I'm in the clear.
