huskernation20 - Posting Paid Content Again????

Hello irieboy8,

Thanks for joining the board. We appreciate your membership. I was wondering if you could elaboate on your comment. Was this directed toward me? Just wondering what you meant by this? If it's in regards to my reply please let me know. You can PM or reply. Look forward to your answer. PLease feel free to PM me if you ever need anything. Thanks.

I went ahead and posted this because I'm curious where this dude was going. Mosreso to be able to reply and offer our stance on paid content.

Thanks for your handling of this, Eric.

I think going forward we should handle this less publicly so there's no potential for a minor freakout. For the irieboy comment too, it doesn't make sense to say "thanks for joining the board" to a member who's been here for a year and a half.

But yea - thanks again.

(edit) actually, wondering if the irieboy thing can just be continued off thread? just saw his response. i feel there's been too many posts about this in that thread already.

Thanks for the note. I appreciate your comments.

A few things to keep in mind as a moderator and please comment.

1) It's never, and I mean NEVER a bad thing to let someone know you appreciate them for joining the board. These members purchase things, which bring in a small revenue whick allowes the board to remain free, offer gift certificates for contests, board upkeep and hoefully get everyone a few more pieces of gear. There are many message boards out there and they choose to be here. Thank them....it goes a long way. I promise!

2) I placed it publicly and we need to continue to make it public because it will get the word out to many members and therefore everyone can start policing this better rather than having this jokester John Hallman complaining that someone stole his freakin' "4.37 40 yard dash time" crap. Transparency is the best medicine.

Let me know what you think.

Zoogs, I love the fact you continue to think critically about the board, please continue the feedback.

Ah...I understand. It just felt off because it by saying "joining" it made it seem like he is a just joined new member, which he isn't. And I suppose my thought on the public nature is there's always some balance to go with transparency vs 'causing confusion', which I felt slipped a little to the latter side when we didn't get back to him on the thread for a few days.

I also feel that courtesy is absolutely a necessity, but sometimes that professionalism can strike the wrong vibe - some members feel more comfortable being spoken to on the same wavelength. Another thing with the transparency is, too much of a public presence can appear overbearing and intimidating, especially if the tone is more formal.

My own suggestion for getting a notice like this is roughly: 1) temporarily 'unapprove' the post in question, and PM the member notifying him and asking him to state his case, and 2) regardless of the outcome, post a courtesy public notice and reminder after the inquiries are all made.

So there's some push/pull here, but these are just my thoughts. I do defer to your expertise in running and maintaining this board though. One thing's for sure, we wouldn't be here without your valuable work.

Question by the way, is this thread : http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/41334-do-not-post-premium-info/page__pid__606830__st__0entry606830 supposed to be locked?

Any comments, questions, concerns and or frustrations please post here. We will do our best to answer them about paid sites.

Thanks Eric
If it's locked, questions can't be posted in that thread.
