Travis Vokolek - a 6-6, 250 lb Tight End from Rutgers - will be in-town tomorrow.  Had 16 catches for 184 yards and 2 TDs last year.

Originally from Springfield, Missouri.  Dad (DJ Vokolek) is originally from Lincoln, played at UNK and coached at Wayne State and UNO before moving to Northern Iowa.

Recently visited Iowa and planning to visit Kansas State and Arkansas.

Has three years to play two.

This kid came from right of the road from me. I always thought he was a better defender, than offensive player. If I remember correctly, a couple games I attend his he didn't catch a ball in either game.

Coached against him in hs.  Kid was a stud.  Solid 2 way player but has a high ceiling as a TE.  The Rutgers offer came late  Would fit right in with what we want at TE.  Also be nice bc Iowa is real high on him.  Could get better at the TE position and keep him from joining a division foe.

Last I saw he didn't actually have an offer from Nebraska.  That could have changed on the visit but the thinking was the Huskers were more interested in getting a linebacker...

While you guys were googling the kid, I googled the dad. He's the assistant head coach and linebackers coach at Northern Iowa. Frost was co-defensive coordinator and Linebackers coach at Northern Iowa. Also Mark Farley was Frost's head coach and is still there. Wonder if that played any part in getting the ball rolling for Travis.
