Team HuskerBoard
Ok since Slacker already leaked it in another post, figured I might as well bring it to the roundtable to get some input from the RedKnights.
So how do you think a MySpace community dedicated to the Huskers would go over? I realize many people already have a myspace acct, so may not be interested in setting up a new one only for the 'skers - but on the other hand, we all know how many fanatics are in Husker Nation, and this would give people an opporutnity to create their own "husker space" identity within HN. It would allow for members to keep personal blogs, upload their fav husker pics, network with other fans etc. -- and in my opinion it would really be a unique site that doesnt currently exist within the BigRedweb, so in theory should attract a larger segment of HN, I could even see people posting their "HuskerSpace" profile link in their board signatures. This wouldnt necessarily replace hboard, but it would most likely diminsh it a bit - but it would also even pull members from the other husker boards b/c it offers something they dont. And these "full service communities" seem to be "the *new* message-boards", so maybe its a good idea to stay ahead of the curve.
In addition to "is it a decent idea" question, I'd also like your input on which name to use. I also own Huskernation.com, which has instant recognition, and attracts about 30-50 ppl/day just due to people guessing the domain name. So it would be very easy to market. I dont really use it for whats its worth, but its a good referral site for hboard so does serve somewhat of a purpose.
In the other corner is the easy play on myspace, HuskerSpace.com. its a good name for obvious reasons - ppl would instantly know what the site was all about, and since myspace is so popular it would be easy for ppl to remember when talking about their "huskerspace page", and when myspace fans heard about it they would naturally be intrigued.
So whattaya think? I see reasons for both names. Huskernation gives it more of a unique identity, but Huskerspace is a bit more compelling. The other "x-factor" to keep in mind is that UNL does own the trademark rights to "Husker Nation", so if they felt like being dooshes, in theory they could snatch the name from me.
*BTW, pls keep this within our circle. Its not an E=MC2 discovery by any means, but I would hate for someone from the "other team" to get a sniff of it and beat us to the donkeypunch.
